Bren Esports won its final regular season match in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10 against Nexplay EVOS. Throughout Bren Esports' MPL PH Season 10 regular season journey, the team has been handing out Spanish Breads to its opponents before the game begins. During a post-match press conference, the team's head coach, Francis "Duckeyyy" Glindro, shared what he believes is the origin of the "Bread Esports" meme, which has become a running joke in the MLBB community.
Bren Esports secures reverse sweep victory against Nexplay EVOS
Bren Esports finally finished a regular season with an impressive standing after seasons of disappointing performances.
Nexplay EVOS had the early game advantage in the first game of the series and was able to deliver a five-man wipeout at the 14-minute mark. This huge advantage provided the White Tigers with enough momentum to win the game.
Bren Esport was able to recover and easily defeat Nexplay EVOS in the second game. The M2 World Champion was able to close the game in just 10-minutes with a solid six kills led by Marco "SUPER MARCO" Requitano, who contributed four kills to the pool. Keeping its momentum going, Bren Esports delivered the final nail in the coffin in the last game and won the series 2-1.
Why is Bren Esports handing out Spanish bread to its opponents in MPL PH Season 10?
One of the most wholesome and funny shenanigans that Bren Esports has embraced in the MLBB community has been the "Bread Esports" joke. Before the game, the team would hand out Spanish bread to their opponents and wish them luck in the upcoming match.
Through a post-match press conference, the team’s head coach Duckeyyy shared what he thinks is the origin of this long-running joke.
“I’m not 100% sure if this is really the backstory of it. But, I think what happened was there were a couple of trolls called Bren like ‘Bread Esports,’ so we had to choose which kind of bread we are.” said the coach. “Turns out, Bren is actually a good Spanish Bread.”
Duckeyyy clarified that he is not entirely sure about the origin of the meme and to “not quote” him on this story. However, he did promise that he will get to the bottom of this and figure out more information about the “Bread Esports” joke.
Bren Esports has completed its regular season journey and will now prepare for the playoffs. Nexplay EVOS has one more game before the season ends and it is against RSG PH on October 3rd at 5:00 PM (PHT).
