BTK MobaZane Praised Teammates for Beating M4 World Championship Contenders
BloodThirstyKings (BTK) exacted revenge on its rival squad Outplay in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) North America Challenger Tournament (NACT) Spring 2023 grand finals. The series was a back-and-forth trade between the two dominant teams for who gets to represent North America (NA) in the upcoming mid-season event, the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023. Despite the last-minute roster changes due to visa issues with one of its players, Outplay put up a good fight against BTK but eventually lost in the final series after a grueling Lord contest that cost it the game.
The highly anticipated MSC 2023 is set to kick off on 10th June, with the grand finale on 18th June. Several qualification tournaments were held to choose the delegates for each region.
BTK Upsets Outplay in NACT Spring to secure MSC 2023 Ticket
The NACT 2023 concluded with one of the most intense matchups in MLBB esports. The recently revived BTK squad managed to take down the fan-favorite team Outplay in a grueling best-of-seven (BO7) series with a 4-3 victory.
Many MLBB fans have identified Outplay as the most intriguing squad in the NACT Spring 2023. Former The Valley members Oscar "SHARK" Vo, Peter "Basic" Lozano, and Jang "Hoon" Seong-hun founded the team. To address the missing voids, the team signed Rainiel "URESHIII" Logronio, a former Nexplay EVOS amateur standout, Mexican pro Bestplayer1, and two NA pros Reaper and Promise.
However, the squad was met with hurdles before the grand finale of the tournament which was set to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Outplay’s EXP Laner, URESHIII could not participate in the event due to VISA issues which forced them to make a last-minute change and sign Promise to take his place.
Despite this, Outplay was able to deliver an exceptional performance in the tournament. However, Michael "MobaZane" Cosgun’s leadership on the BTK squad was enough to keep the squad afloat despite all odds stacked against them. The iconic team was able to make a major comeback in the tiebreaker game after an impressive call to defend the base as Outplay’s Gold Laner Peter "Basic" Lozano desperately tried to do a backdoor play but failed.
This desperate attempt to end the game costed Outplay and it lost its momentum leading BTK to finally get its first and final Lord of the game. BTK then immediately ran it down mid-lane to close the series with a victory.
On top of representing NA in the upcoming MSC 2023, BTK shall also be representing the region in the upcoming International Esports Federation (IESF) World Championship 2023 MLBB Event.
MobaZane is proud of his teammates for beating Outplay
Through a post-match interview, BTK’s team captain and iconic NA player MobaZane had nothing but praise for his teammates for beating Outplay. According to him, it was never a 1v4 in terms of team effort as his squad always has his back.
“It’s never been a 1v4. But the fact that these four players who have never stepped foot in a tournament in their lives have come and beat three 5th placers in M4, it’s an insane achievement,” MobaZane ecstatically said.
With BTK as the NACT 2023 champion, the squad is up for a tougher challenger as they shall be facing the best teams from around the world in the upcoming MSC 2023. It will be interesting to see how the team performs against the best of the best teams in MLBB esports.
