After four consecutive losses in the MPL PH Season 9, Blacklist International finally secured it's first win against Bren Esports in the third week of the tournament.
Despite Bren Esports securing most of the objectives, Blacklist International stood firm and dominated each team fight to secure a 2-0 clean sweep victory.
Blacklist International's head coach, BON CHAN, explained that the team merely reverted to the old meta due to the absence of the iconic UBE strategy.

After a two-week losing streak, Blacklist International finally earned its first clean sweep victory against Bren Esports in the third week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9. Bren Esports fought valiantly against the defending champions, but Blacklist International stood dominant despite not being able to secure as many objectives throughout the match series. With the losing streak curse finally broken, the team’s head coach Kristoffer Ed "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza is hopeful that Blacklist International can keep its momentum going and start climbing to the top of the leaderboard in the MPL PH Season 9.

Blacklist International secures clean sweep victory to end its losing streak curse

In the first game of the series, Bren Esports had the greater advantage in terms of objectives and gold. It seemed like Bren Esports had total control of the mid-game. However, thanks to Salic “Hadji” Alauya Imam’s Yve and Kent “KEVIER” Xavier Lopez’s Ling, Blacklist International managed to dominate team fights. After a solid Lord kill, Blacklist International secured its first victory of the match series.

In the second game, Bren Esports continued to stay aggressive towards Blacklist International with a Lord Steal thanks to its jungler, Kenneth “Saxa” Fedelin, and his Paquito. However, securing the objective cost Bren Esports to lose some of its players, allowing the defending champions to regain their momentum and even the odds. After one of the longest Lord securing bouts at the 21-minute mark, Blacklist International stood victorious and secured its clean sweep victory.

Blacklist International stood dominant despite Bren having the most objectives secured.

Without the UBE strategy, Blacklist International just went back to the old meta, says BON CHAN

Through a post-match interview, Blacklist International’s head coach, BON CHAN revealed that the team’s strategy just went back to the way it was before the debut of its iconic Ultimate Bonding Experience (UBE) strategy.

“Since UBE disappeared, we just reverted to the previous meta where strong lanes were a thing,” he said. “We just went back to the old meta as the UBE has disappeared, temporarily.”

According to the head coach, the team was doing fine, it’s just that there were a lot of adjustments that needed to be made as the roster update came much later in the pre-season.

With its losing streak finally broken, Blacklist International hopes to continue its momentum and start winning its upcoming matches in the MPL PH Season 9.
