Hades reveals BGMI teams will not be playing tournaments on Mondays.
He also revealed that the BGMI organizations will demand POV streaming rights for the Quarter Finals and the Semi Finals stages.

The 2024 Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) season so far has already seen over a dozen tournaments being played. Teams are playing multiple tournaments every single day. With the announcement of Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024, teams are now taking measures to ensure their players are given a good amount of rest before the start of major events.

Vinay “Hades” Rao, the Head of Esports of Orangutan, in a recent live stream talked about how all the BGMI teams have come together and made a decision to not play any tournaments on Mondays.

Hades reveals BGMI teams will not be playing tournaments on Mondays

In a recent live stream, talking about the decision made by the BGMI teams, Hades said,“All the important people who are related to a particular BGMI team like the coaches, managers and other people who can take decisions for their own teams have made a Whatsapp group. We had a discussion and have made a decision that most of the teams will not play in the tournaments which will take place on Mondays. If official events take place on Mondays then they will be played but third party tournaments will not be played. It will be implemented from now on but the ongoing tournaments for which previous commitments have been made will be completed.”

Hades also talked about Point of View Streaming (POV) and said, “There are so many organizations right now and teams now have to play from the Quarter Finals stage rather than getting directly invited to the Semi Finals, this lengthens the tournament. So we are going to demand POV streaming rights from the Tournament Organizers and we will do everything to promote their tournament like putting tournament logos, names etc. If we don’t get the POV streaming rights we will not play the tournament. We have to look at other opportunities of earning and not just depend on the prize pool.”

Since the unban of BGMI in May 2023, the number of BGMI tournaments has significantly increased. The first month after the unban of BGMI saw over six tournaments being organized. By the end of the 2023 season dozens of major and minor BGMI events were held. The three months of the 2024 season so far have already seen fifteen plus events being played with upcoming months having official and third party LAN events already planned.

With so many BGMI events being played on a daily basis and most of them being played in the offline format, teams are taking these steps in order to give their players an appropriate amount of rest before the start of marquee BGMI events like BGIS 2024 which is to start from 4th April.
