After multiple third party Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) tournaments and LAN events being played in the 2024 season so far, the first official tournament of the season has been revealed. Krafton, the games publisher revealed the details of the marquee Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 event. The publisher posted a video on its official social media channels revealing details of the event.
Krafton reveals BGIS 2024 event
On 16th March 2024, Krafton, posted a video on its official Youtube Channel which contained visuals from the BGIS 2023 LAN event. The video revealed a new logo for the BGIS 2024 event and also revealed that the event will commence from the 4th April. The event is expected to follow the same format as before with The Grind qualifiers then the in-game qualifiers and the main event.
Recently, Zishan “Mazy” Alam, an official caster of BGMI events, in a live stream, had revealed that the BGIS 2024 event was just around the corner. He also said that there are significant changes which can be expected to take place before the start of BGIS 2024.
The first expected change will be the new points system that allocates points to the teams on the basis of the Players Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile Esports points system. The team securing the chicken dinner will now receive 10 points instead of 15 and the amount of points will keep decreasing for lower placed teams. Almost every tournament organizer in the 2024 BGMI season so far has used the new points system which is also an indication of the changes expected in the times to come.
Another change which is expected is the zone meta which is based on the global scene where the sizes of the zone, time and more will be changed. The third change is the introduction of a new Transfer Window, which can be used by teams to exchange or trade players to other teams.
Several seasoned squads like Entity Gaming, iQOO Soul and Orangutan have shown consistent performances in the 2024 BGMI season so far. Entity Gaming has already won two events with one of them being the ESL BGMI Snapdragon Pro Series LAN Finals.
More details regarding BGIS 2024 are yet to be officially announced by Krafton. With the tournament just over two weeks away, fans can expect an announcement regarding the teams, format, prize pool and more to be made soon.
