Krafton receives go ahead from the Indian government to run BGMI operations after its three month trial period.
This development is anticipated to bring Krafton and the fans a significant amount of relief because it removes the regulatory uncertainty for one of the top-grossing games in the nation.

South Korean gaming giant Krafton is said to have gotten the full approval from the Indian government to operate its well-known battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) after the three-month trial period. It is one of the most successful mobile games in the country.

Krafton’s popular battle royale title BGMI was banned by the Indian government in 2022 after citing data privacy concerns of its users. The game had to go through major changes before being reintroduced this year.

Krafton resumed its BGMI activities in May 2023 for a three-month trial period. There were a number of guidelines BGMI had to follow in India. First, the game was to be closely scrutinized for the  three months after the prohibition was lifted. If it was determined that if any national rules or regulations were broken, the app would face yet another restriction.

Krafton gets approval from Indian government for BGMI

Due to increased smartphone purchasing power, reasonably priced devices, and more accessible data plans, the gaming market in India is predicted to grow massively in the coming years.

Krafton has already established a market for itself in the mobile gaming industry with its battle royale title BGMI. After Players Unknown BattleGrounds (PUBG) was banned in India after citing privacy concerns, Krafton released an India specific version of the game named BGMI in 2021. A year later, BGMI was once again banned because of similar reasons. Since that time, Krafton has worked very hard to assure the Indian authorities that the data of its users is well protected. In May 2023, the game was relaunched in the Indian market for a trial period of three months with a few restrictions.

The trial period has now concluded, and Krafton has been given permission by the Indian government to fully operate the game, albeit the game will still be watched. Some sources also claim that the game will be subject to quarterly evaluations.

BGMI was one of the top-grossing Android games in the country before its ban.The game has enjoyed tremendous success since its relaunch. With this development, fans will be relieved and shall hope for no more problems to arise for their beloved game.
