Krafton has finally released details about the format, schedule, and prize pool distribution for the BGIS 2023.
BGIS 2023 will take place across four months from July to October, consisting of six different stages.
Here are the complete details for the format breakdown, overall schedule, important dates, and total prize pool split for the BGIS 2023.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has completed two months since getting unbanned by the Indian government in May 2023. The players, content, and competition have all returned, prompting Krafton to announce its premier esports tournament, Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 (BGIS).

The first part of this event, BGIS 2023 The Grind is already underway with the top 64 teams directly qualifying for the main tournament. Now, the organizers have revealed the complete roadmap of how everything will play out in this grassroots event which spans four months.

BGIS 2023 Format and Prize Pool: Complete Details

Krafton has finally released the detailed format of how BGIS 2023 will be playing out over the course of four months, starting in July and concluding in October.

Along with this, the organizers have also presented how the overall prize pool of INR 2,00,00,000 ($243,962 USD) will be distributed among all the competing teams.


BGIS 2023: Format Breakdown and Explanation

The biggest esports tournament for BGMI will comprise six different stages, taking place from July to October.

  1. BGIS 2023: The Grind | 20th July to 20th Aug

  2. BGIS 2023: In-Game Qualifiers | 10th to 16th Aug

  3. BGIS 2023: Online Qualifiers | 31st Aug to 17th Sep

  4. BGIS 2023: Quarter Finals & Losers Bracket | 21st Sep to 1st Oct

  5. BGIS 2023: Semi Finals | 4th to 7th Oct

  6. BGIS 2023: Grand Finals | 12th to 14th Oct

BGIS 2023: The Grind

This is basically the qualifier for all the directly invited BGMI teams from across the country.

It takes place before the main event. The top 64 out of the 256 invited teams shall qualify ahead and it is scheduled to take place from 20th July to 20th Aug.

BGIS 2023 The Grind Round 1

  • Week 1: 20th to 23rd July | Week 2: 27th to 30th July.

  • Each week, 128 teams will compete, divided into 8 groups of 16 teams each.

  • Each group will play a total of three matches after which the top eight teams will qualify while the bottom eight teams will be eliminated.

  • Each week, 64 teams will qualify for Round 2.

BGIS 2023 The Grind Round 2

  • Week 3: 3rd to 6th August | Week 4: 10th to 13th August.

  • Each week, 64 teams will compete, divided into 4 groups of 16 teams each.

  • Each group will play a total of six matches after which the top eight teams will qualify while the bottom eight teams will be eliminated.

  • Each week, 32 teams will qualify for Round 3.

BGIS 2023 The Grind Round 3

  • Week 5: 17th to 20th August.

  • This week, 64 teams will compete, divided into 4 groups of 16 teams each.

  • This week, a round-robin format will be followed where every group will play a total of 12 matches.

  • Based on the overall leaderboard, the top 32 teams will qualify for BGIS 2023 Online Qualifiers Round 3 and the bottom 32 teams will qualify for the BGIS 2023 Online Qualifiers Round 2.

BGIS 2023: In-Game Qualifiers

  • These are the open qualifiers for which all aspiring players can form a team and register themselves for absolutely free.

  • Make sure that all the details are correct because all registrations will go through a strict verification process.

  • The eligibility criteria to register is that all players need to have an account above level 25 and tier Platinum V in Squad Mode.

  • All registered teams need to play 15 classic matches in Ranked Mode between 10th to 16th August.

  • The 10 best performances will be considered for every team and a total of 2048 participants will qualify to the next stage.

BGIS 2023: Online Qualifiers

This stage is one of the most important as it will combine participants from open qualifiers with directly invited teams. Hence, it has been further split into three rounds.

BGIS 2023 Online Qualifiers Round 1

  • The 2048 qualifying participants from the previous stage will be split into 128 Groups of 16 teams each.

  • The Top three teams from each group will move ahead to the next round along with the remaining 96 best-ranked teams, based on their total placement and finish point score.

BGIS 2023 Online Qualifiers Round 2

  • The 384 qualifying participants will be joined by the 96 best-ranked teams along with the bottom 32 teams from BGIS 2023 The Grind Round 3.

  • All the 512 teams will be divided into 32 groups of 16 teams each, the top seven from each group shall qualify for the next round.

BGIS 2023 Online Qualifiers Round 3

  • The 224 qualifying teams will be joined by the top 32 teams from BGIS 2023 The Grind Round 3.

  • All the 256 teams will be divided into 16 groups of 16 teams each, the top four from each group shall qualify for the Quarter Finals while those achieving 65 to 80 positions will move on to the Losers Bracket.

BGIS 2023: Quarter Finals & Losers Bracket

BGIS 2023 Quarter Finals

  • The 64 qualifying teams will be be divided into four groups of 16 teams each.

  • The top four teams from each group will qualify for the Semi Finals while the remaining teams 48 teams shall drop down to the Losers Bracket.

BGIS 2023 Losers Bracket

  • The teams positioned 65 to 80 from the BGIS 2023 Online Qualifiers Round 3 will be joined by 48 teams from the BGIS 2023 Quarter Finals.

  • All 64 teams will be divided into four groups of 16 teams each, the top four teams from each group shall move on to the Semi Finals.

BGIS 2023: Semi Finals

  • The top 16 teams from both BGIS 2023 Quarter Finals and BGIS 2023 Losers Bracket will meet each other in this stage.

  • All 32 teams will be divided into four groups of eight teams each and the top 16 teams from the overall points table will move on to the Grand Finals.

BGIS 2023: Grand Finals

The top 16 teams from the Semi Finals will play 18 matches across three days, six matches per day, and the team with the highest cumulative points will be declared as the champion of BGIS 2023.

The tournament offers a massive total prize pool of INR 2,00,00,000 ($243,962 USD) and a majority of it will be distributed between the top 16 teams, while a small piece will be retained for individual accolades.
