Arena Breakout, aka the Unofficial Escape From Tarkov Mobile, Gets Its Own Esports Scene
Tencent Games has officially launched an esports scene for its new multiplayer mobile FPS with survival aspects called Arena Breakout. Tencent announced the Arena Breakout Pioneer Series for China which started off with third party events on 20th July and will end with an offline finals event in December this year. This announcement comes from the ongoing Tencent Global Esports Summit 2022. Seven professional organisations including Edward Gaming (EDG) and LGD Gaming have already announced rosters for Arena Breakout.
Arena Breakout features elements like a hunger and injury system, extensive gun modding, and looting and extraction while fighting enemies. This has led the game to be dubbed as the mobile version of Escape from Tarkov. A beta version of the game was released in early August last year, specially geared towards China. This was followed by the official release of Arena Breakout for China on 13th July. An English version available will be available in the near future.
Arena Breakout Pioneer Series format
According to Liquipedia employee hesketh2, the Arena Breakout Pioneer Series will comprise of three qualifying events spanning from July to December. The prizepool for the finals is 1 million RMB ($150 thousand USD). Each match of Arena Breakout will consist of four or two 4-man squads. Teams will get points based on the total Material Value all the players loot and extract throughout the duration of the match.
Other announcements during the Tencent Games Esports Summit
Along with the announcement for Arena Breakout, a Call of Duty Mobile Asia Autumn Invitational was announced for November. Tencent also announced details about its Honor of Kings World Champions Cup and the Challenger Cup and a Tournament Tool app that is currently in development.
According to hesketh2, the summit also featured announcements for Game for Peace including a National League in December along with several other smaller tournaments like the Streamer Championship, a College Championship, All-Gamer Championship, City Championship and Wildcard leading up to a 3rd-level league final.
