After months of rumors circulating around multiple new Call of Duty titles being in development, Activision finally confirmed Call of Duty: Warzone for mobile. In a cheeky tweet, the developer said it was looking to hire new talent to help in "creating an all-new, AAA mobile experience that will bring the thrilling, fluid and large-scale action of Call of Duty: Warzone to players on the go". Warzone marks the franchise’s second entry into the mobile market. Call of Duty: Mobile received favorable reviews and currently has a sizable player base. According to Dot Esports, the game had surpassed the six million mark in terms of number of daily players last year.
In December 2021, game journalist Tom Henderson had first tweeted about Call of Duty: Warzone coming to mobile some time in 2022.
In the blog post announcing Call of Duty: Warzone for mobile, Activision said it was a "large-scale, battle royale experience being built natively for mobile with cutting-edge technology designed to entertain gamers around the world for many years to come." The developer also said it’s looking to hire for several roles in art, engineering and production.
There is no word on a release date for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile yet but if the industry leaks are true, the game should be out by the end of 2023 along with a free-to-play Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare II and Warzone II.
Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale which released on March 10th, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A version for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S has been announced to be released in 2022.
