Player Beer11 and coach Voo have decided to say goodbye to RRQ Athena. Beer11 took to Facebook to announce his departure in a post that loosely translates to:

“Finished the program successfully and the last tour for RRQ | BEER11. We served here. It's over but our life goals and journey are not over and over. Thank you RRQ ATHENA team for the front and behind the scenes. Thank you everyone for being tired all year. Thank you brother Voo for changing attitude to this little kid to grow and learn more.”

RRQ Athena’s coach Chayut "Voo" Changtongkum has also left the team after a year. Voo also put up a post on Facebook announcing his departure and left kind words for all his players.

The team’s IGL G9 also posted about their departure saying that this was the last day they could compete under brother Voo and no matter the result, he won’t regret it. He went on to thank his fans for their continued support saying, “Thank you for being there for us on the winning day and the day we lost. Thank you for loving us no matter how much the result is today. I just want to thank everyone very much.”

RRQ Athena’s run under coach Voo

Coach Voo joined the team sometime during January 2020 and under him, the team has had a mixed run. RRQ Athena won PMPL Spring Split 2020: Thailand League but came in 12th place during the finals. The team had a good showing in PMWL 2020 - Season 0: East with a third-place finish. RRQ Athena also showed promise during PMGC 2020 League stage where they came in third. However, the team was overtaken by several others in the finals where they came in 11th place and couldn’t score any chicken dinners.

At the start of the PUBG Mobile esports scene, RRQ Athena was one of the top teams in Thailand and Asia with wins in PUBG Mobile Star Challenge 2018,  PMCO - Fall Split: SEA Championship, and other smaller tournaments like Thailand E-sports Challenge 2018 and PUBG Mobile YEAH Asia League 2019. It is still unclear who will take over RRQ Athena as coach from here on.
