- RRQ Hoshi Win MPL-ID Season 5.
- The win comes against arch rivals EVOS Legends.
- Over 1.1 Million viewers tuned in for the epic grand finals.
RRQ Hoshi finally overcame their arch rivals, EVOS Legends in an exciting grand finals of the MPL-ID Season 5. The win comes after EVOS beat RRQ in two major grand finals earlier - the M1 World Championship and MPL-ID Season 4.
A brilliant run in the league stage saw RRQ take top spot along with Bigetron Alpha. In the playoffs, RRQ went unbeaten, beating EVOS Legends twice to lift the trophy. The team took down EVOS once in the upper bracket finals and then in the grand finals. Just like we’ve seen before, the matchup was extremely close contested with the two teams going at each other blow for blow. The series, much to the delight of the fans, went all the way, before RRQ closed it out 3-2. The final game of the series unfortunately was quite one-sided as EVOS only managed to pickup 2 kills in the early phase of the game as RRQ clinically starved them out of the game.
MLBB Sets New Viewership Record
An RRQ vs EVOS matchup is regarded as the EL Clasico of MLBB and earlier in the league stage, the viewership was at nearly 650,000 when the two met. With two of the most popular teams clashing in the grand finals, a whopping 1.1 Million fans turned it to watch MLBB’s greatest battles. While many have asked questions whether the release of Riot’s Wild Rift will be a killing blow to MLBB, the title has shown extremely strong growth in SEA and with numbers crossing the million mark, has set a high bar to beat.
