Free Fire OB29 Update Goes Live: Patch Notes, New Features, Bug Fixes, More
The highly awaited Free Fire OB29 update is now live!
The highly awaited Free Fire OB29 update is finally live after the game underwent maintenance today on 4th August from 9:30 AM to 5:45 PM IST. This new update celebrates the mobile battle royale's fourth anniversary with the patch update being officially called 4nniversary. It brings with it a lot of gameplay related changes, new features, game balances, optimizations, and bug fixes. Players who were not able to enjoy the game for the majority of the day, can now go ahead and update the game from their respective app stores, before checking its all the new and exciting changes.

Here is a detailed breakdown of all the changes that were introduced to Free Fire along with the OB29 update which went live a few hours back today, on 4th August.
New Game Mode
A new 1v1 game mode has finally been added to Free Fire called Lone Wolf. Players will be able to enjoy this mode on the new map Iron Cage, which has been tailor-made for it specifically.
Two players will be going head to head in nine 1v1 battles to determine who is the better player. Finally, players will be able to settle their differences while also practice against stronger opponents.
Clash Squad
The Season 8 of Ranked Clash Squad is all set to start tomorrow onwards from 5th August, 10:30 PM IST. It will run up until 29th September and all those who are able to attain a rank of Gold III or above will receive the Clash Squad exclusive item - The Golden AN94.
New features added to Clash Squad are,
Ability to request teammates for weapon or ask them to purchase one for you.
The community requested feature of displaying the backpack has also been added.
Training Grounds
A new training range has been added called Grenade Range, where players will be able to practice their utility. This comes after the community appreciated the addition of the Gloo Wall Training Zone.
Characters and Pets
The following new characters will be available in Free Fire soon,
Dimitri
Based on the world famous DJ, Dimitri Vegas, this character has an active skill called Healing Heartbeat. This ability allows downed teammates to recover themselves while providing cover by staying in battle.
Healing Heartbeat [Active] - Creates a 3.5m healing zone, inside which users and allies recover 3HP per second. When downed, users and allies can recover themselves to get up. Lasts for 10/11/12/13/14/15s, CD 85/80/75/70/65/60s.
Thiva
This is another new character coming to the game who can help recover fallen teammates quickly in battle. His passive skill, Vital beats can greatly reduce the time it takes to help-up his teammates in dangerous situations.
Vital Vibes - Increases rescue speed by 5/8/11/14/17/20%. Upon a successful rescue, user recovers 15/20/25/30/35/40 HP in five seconds.
These Free Fire characters have been changed or balanced,
Jota
This character's skill has been reworked by Garena so that players can have a smoother time using this character.
Sustained Raids - When using guns, hitting an enemy recovers some HP for the user, while knocking down an enemy recovers 10/12/14/16/18/20% maximum HP for the user.
Luqueta
The character's Hat Trick skill undergoes a slight buff, as it now allows players to receive slightly more HP when the ability is triggered.
Hat Trick - Every kill increases the max HP by 8/10/12/14/16/18 -> 10/13/16/19/22/25, up to 35 -> 50.
Shani
The character ability undergoes a rework so players can now upgrade and repair their armor without picking up a new one.
Gear Recycle - Restores 10/12/14/16/18/20-> 10/12/15/19/24/30% armor durability after every kill. Extra durability can upgrade your armor, up to level 3.
Alvaro
The charcter's ability undergoes a bit of damage increase to compensate for the error when throwing a grenade.
Art of Demolition - Explosive weapon damage increases by 6/8/10/12/14/16% -> 10/12/14/16/18/20%.
Apart from these character changes and new characters, a new pet will also be introduced to Free Fire, Sensei Tig. It has the Nimble Ninja skill which helps in reducing the duration of enemies' man-marking skills.
Weapon and Balance
A new sniper rifle has been added to Free Fire called AC80 which comes with the Piercing Shots. It can easily take down enemies that are equipped with heavy armors.
Base Damage: 50
Rate of Fire: 0.45
Magazine: 10
Attachments: Muzzle, Grip, Stock
The assault rifle M4A1 will be getting three new modifications in this update. Players can pick up or purchase their M4A1 into either X, Y, or Z version.
UZI has undergone some stats adjustments.
Minimum Damage: +8%
Magazine: +2
Effective Range: +10%
XM8 in its current state is not optimal and has been given a bit of a buff.
Rate of Fire: +10%
Recoil: +5%
SPAS12 being one of the most weak shotguns in the game has also been given a tweak.
Added Muzzle and Scope attachment slot
Range: +15%
Vector gets an upgrade so players can be more mobile with it.
Range: +5%
Movement Speed: +10%
M1887 is a bit too strong in its current state and has been nerfed.
Armor Penetration: -6%
Range: -8%
Rate of Fire: -5%
Three special attachments introduced along with the update are,
Shotgun Muzzle - +1 bullet in each shotgun shell fired.
SMG Muzzle - Minimum damage range+1, range+1, every third shot will deal 1.2x damage.
AR Magazine - Rate of fire increase, magazine size -15%.
Decoy Grenades have been given a bit of a rework as they were heavily underused. Now they generate noise and are also revealed on the mini map once deployed.
Optimization and Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where the "waiting for players" message in Clash Squad remains even after both teams are filled.
Ammo types that cannot be used will now be shown in the inventory.
Reduced the transparency of the bomb in "Bomb Squad".
Optimized Multi-kill announcements.
