Krafton has a lot on its plate with the recent release of Battlegrounds Mobile India and now the expansion of the PUBG universe with its newest launch, PUBG: New State. While Battlegrounds Mobile India is the India-specific version of the popular mobile battle royale, PUBG: New State is set to take place in the year 2051 in the dystopian city of Troi which has faced environmental, economic, and political collapse. While PUBG: New State is not out yet, the game had surpassed 20 million pre-registrations in July, with iOS pre-registrations beginning in August. We look at some of the major differences between PUBG: New State and BGMI.

Five major differences between PUBG: New State and BGMI

Availability

BGMI is an India-exclusive battle royale, and can only be accessed through the region. However, PUBG: New State pre-registrations were open globally. In August, Krafton had announced a second alpha test for multiple countries from Asia, MENA (Middle East and North Africa), and Turkey. Despite South Asian countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka being included as part of this test phase, India had been excluded from it. India has now been included in the pre-registrations which went live for both Android and iOS users on 1st Sept, 2021.

Premise and Timeline

PUBG: New State is set in the near future with the events taking place in the year 2051 in a dystopian city called Troi, located in the American Midwest, and adds a twist on the existing PUBG Mobile gameplay. The town is in a state of anarchy where factions such as New State, GLC, Mayhem, and the Hunters battle each other for survival. The New State faction is made up of former citizens of Troi.

Battlegrounds Mobile India is based in the present day. Krafton has said that PUBG: New State’s gameplay will be an improved version of the current BGMI gameplay. The timeline and premise is one of the major differences between PUBG: New State and BGMI.

Maps

PUBG: New State will offer players the chance to battle it out on the brand new 8x8 map of Troi. Some of the key locations within the city are Exhibit Hall, The Mall, Laboratory, and Trailer Park.

Krafton has made no official statement about any other maps they plan to release for New State. BGMI has all the standard maps one can expect in a PUBG game including Erangel, Livik, Miramar, Sanhok, and Karakin.

Weapons and Vehicles

PUBG: New State features modern weapons and vehicles while including some of the classics available in BGMI. New vehicles include the Volta, a quiet electric car, the Vulture, a heavy-duty motorcycle, and the Tram, a railway system that runs through Troi. New State will also feature drones which can be accessed through the drone shop via drone credits and new Dyneema armor. New State will feature a new weapon customization kit which lets players modify weapons like never before. BGMI currently features a number of weapons which are available in the armoury and limited attachment options depending on the gun.

System Requirements

For an optimal experience, Android and iOS players should have the following minimum system requirements for PUBG: New State:

  • Android OS 6.0 or higher and has at least 2GB RAM.

  • iOS devices that are iPhone 6S or higher and run iOS 13.0 or higher.

Battlegrounds Mobile India has slightly lower requirements for both Android and iOS devices:

  • Android OS 5.1.1 or higher and at least 2 GB RAM.

  • iOS devices that are iPhone 6s and above and run iOS 9.0 or higher.
