Honkai Star Rail, the brainchild of the creators of the well-liked gacha game Genshin Impact, is on its way to becoming another outstanding free-to-play turn-based RPG. It is currently available for download on Google Play Store and App Store for mobile gamers. Meanwhile, you can get it straight from their official website or through the Epic Games store if you want to experience it on PC.
For macOS users, unfortunately, Honkai: Star Rail is not yet available for download on Mac. Just like Genshin Impact, you won’t be able to download it on your Mac as of now. But, don’t get your hopes down. There are actually alternative ways how you can play Honkai Star Rail on Mac.
How to play Honkai Star Rail on Mac
Honkai Star Rail can be played on a MacBook or a desktop Mac, but you'll need to use one of the solutions that will be described below as a workaround first. Whether your Mac is an Apple Silicon or an Intel model.
There are currently three different ways to download Honkai Star Rail for Mac. On the first two (Parallels and Boot Camp), you must first install Windows on your Mac before you can download Honkai Star Rail on the PC. The third way lets you download and play the game's mobile version on your computer using an emulator program called BlueStacks
How to play on Mac using Boot Camp
To play Honkai: Star Rail on your Mac, follow these steps:
Open your “Utilities folder,” which is located in “Applications.”
And then open “Boot Camp Assistant.”
Once it’s opened, follow the steps for setting up Boot Camp
And once it’s completed, you’ll need to restart your Mac.
Then, follow the instructions presented by Boot Camp Assistant
With Boot Camp running, you need to install Honkai Star Rail as you would on your PC, either via a direct download from their website or through the Epic Games Store. You will, of course, need a HoYoverse account, as well.
How to play on Mac using Parallels
Parallels lets you set up a Windows Virtual Machine. Parallels will let you download the game on Mac in a similar fashion to how you would download Honkai: Star Rail on PC. Despite being a fantastic tool, Parallels is not flawless. You should be aware that since it is merely a Windows portal tool, there is a good likelihood that the performance will not be as good as it is on the PC version. But if you really want to test out Honkai: Star Rail on your Mac, this is still a choice. In addition, Parallels is not free and could set you back a sizable sum of money.
How to play on Mac using BlueStacks
The most popular cloud-based cross-platform software that enables you to run Android apps and/or games on your Windows or macOS-compatible computers is BlueStacks app player. Millions of people have used it for many years, and it is secure.
On the BlueStacks website, search “Honkai: Star Rail” and click on the relevant result.
Click on the “Play Honkai: Star Rail on PC” link on the top left.
Download and Install BlueStacks on your PC.
Click on the “Honkai: Star Rail” icon at the bottom of the app player.
Complete the Google Sign-in to install the game.
Click the “Honkai: Star Rail” icon on the home screen to start playing.
