Honkai Star Rail has a way of helping players deal with the all-too-familiar situation where you’ve run out of in-game currency and yet haven’t been getting that character you wanted in a gacha game. Just like in Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail has a Pity System that let’s players snag those precious pulls they want, even if they run out of Stellar Jade. You can pick up some unmissable Warps and Light Cones with the Pity System. Here is all you need to know about the Honkai Star Rail Pity System.
How does Pity work in Honkai Star Rail?
The Honkai Star Rail Pity System guarantees players a rare pull, based on how many pulls they have already made. With this, you will get a 4 or 5-star character eventually without having to spend all your Stellar Jade. For Character Banners, players are guaranteed at least one 4-star character every 10 pulls and one 5-star character every 90 pulls. The Light Cone banner (equivalent to a weapon banner) also guarantees at least one 4-star every 10 pulls, while 5-star drops are guaranteed every 80 pulls.
Once you get a 5-star pull, your pity stat will reset. So even if you get a 5-star after 60 banner pulls, instead of the guaranteed 90, your counter resets to 0.
How to get a guaranteed 5-star character in Honkai Star Rail
The best way to get a guaranteed 5-star character in Honkai Star Rail is by using the pity system. You can increase your odds of that 5-star pull by building up pity over time. Let’s say you have your eye on an upcoming character and want to get them as your next 5-star pull. Before the character banner release, build up as much pity as you can on the previous banner. Keep track of your pulls and of your last pity system reset. The closer the counter is to guaranteed pull, the higher your chances of triggering it. So use your Stellar Jade strategically before events.
You can check your pity by going into the details of any banner. Your past history of pulls can be found in the “View Records” section. Make sure you count from the pull after you got a 5-star. Unfortunately, you can’t see exactly what your Pity number is in the game. However, you can count your exact pity after you have performed a few pulls on any banner.
