When Is the Next Clash of Clans Update? (April 2024)

Clash of Clans is a popular free-to-play combat strategy game. Clash of Clans, one of the most popular mobile games ever, also ranks as Supercell's highest-grossing title. This game centers around building community ties through clan formation and village development, culminating in inter-clan battles—hence the name, Clash of Clans.

The game's enduring success is largely attributed to its expanding player base. Supercell continues to engage players with exciting challenges and updates. In this article, we will take a close look at when to expect the update in the game.

Clash of Clans Next Big Update

While Clash of Clans does update its features and troops every two months, the Town Hall updates are obviously a big change since they take the gaming experience to the next level. A new character, new troops, pets and spells are introduced during Town Hall updates, creating much-deserved hype around the Clash of Clans. All these releases do not happen during the monthly updates.

Town Hall 16 was released on 11th December 2023, a good 14 months after the release of Town Hall 15 on 10th October 2022. Players can expect Town Hall 17 to be added to Clash of Clans in December 2024. Supercell recently confirmed that it is finally abandoning its 18-month schedule for new Town Hall levels in favor of a 12-month schedule. As a result, since Town Hall 16 was released in December 2023, it is only reasonable to expect Town Hall 17 to be launched at the end of 2024.

However, the first big update on 2024 took place at the start of the year in the month of February. In that update, Supercell added the new Overgrowth Spell and also updated Clan Chat features. This was accompanied by new upgrade levels, balance changes, and other additions.

It should be noted that two major updates are released every year within six months. Since the last one took place in February 2024, the next major game update will most likely be released in August 2024.

Earlier, Supercell had an 18-month policy on its Town Hall updates. Reasoning this, it once revealed the reason for this months-long gap between the updates. It stated in a blog that it gives late-game players and lower-level players time to catch up with the game. It also ensures that these players are not lost due to the overwhelming number of significant updates to the game.
