Are you wondering how to change your gender in Pokémon Go? Here's a guide to help you!

In the last few years, Niantic has released plenty of QoL changes for Pokémon Go. The game has seen some exciting additions, from updated visuals to new AR experiences. However, with the latest update, Niantic has completely revamped the game’s avatar setup and customization options. While these changes have upset a few players in the community, the new options give everyone a better chance to express themselves in the world of Pokémon. If you’re wondering how you can change your gender in Pokémon Go now, here’s everything you need to know.

How Can You Change Your Gender in Pokémon Go?

Niantic’s latest update for Pokémon Go has changed several elements of player avatars, including the customization options. Instead of changing your character’s gender, you can now change their body types

Earlier, players could only choose between Male and Female genders for their avatars. Now, the characters are no longer associated with any gender, and trainers are allowed to select the design that works best for them.

Here’s how you can change your body type in Pokémon Go -

  1. Launch Pokémon Go

  2. Click on your avatar on the bottom left of the screen.

  3. Choose “Style” from the menu.

  4. Choose “Appearance” in the customization menu.

  5. Select “Body”

  6. Choose your preferred body type.

Currently, the game has ten selectable body styles, but you can also create a custom one to suit your character. You can adjust your character’s face shape, eye color, hair color, weight, muscle, chest, shoulders, and hips to your preferences.

Are Hairstyle and Clothing Options Locked to Genders in Pokémon Go?

Short Answer: No! With the latest Pokémon Go update, hairstyle, and clothing are no longer gender locked. You can choose from three different hairstyle lengths, with all of them available for male or female-presenting trainers. All clothing options in the game fit to match the body type selected by the player, with nothing excluded by gender or size expression.

Although these new changes might take some time to get adjusted to, Pokémon Go fans from around the globe will find these additions helpful to express themselves in the game.
