The Lords of the Fallen is the latest action roleplaying game developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games. This is a successor to the popular 2014 title and this time, it's making its way to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC featuring impressive visuals, thanks to its development on Unreal Engine 5. The title also showcased RPG elements with a compelling story featuring two different realms. Axiom is the land of the living while Umbral is considered as the land of the dead. The game is finally available on the aforementioned platforms and many players are wondering about the game’s crossplay functionality so that they can slay horrendous monsters together with their friends on different consoles. Let’s delve into it.
The Lords of the Fallen Crossplay Support
Essentially, the crossplay system in Lords of the Fallen allows you to link up with any player on PC if you are on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. Weirdly, it does not allow you to connect with players from Xbox if you are on PlayStation and vice versa. This pretty much means that only PC players get the full features of crossplay, where they can play with PlayStation, Xbox, and other PC gamers.
This information was revealed by the Lead Network Multiplayer Programmer, David Romanowski in one of the official posts on the game’s site. There is also the mention of Cross Progression which is currently not supported, as the studio does not want players to go through the hassle of logging into their Hexworks account every time they switch consoles.
The Lords of the Fallen Co-op System
Lords of the Fallen offers various options to connect with other players and the best way to do it is by using a password that will allow another player to join you on your ventures. Once the password is set, invasions will be temporarily blocked for a brief period so that you and your friend do not get caught off guard by a random player. However, the block will be lifted after a certain time and you will be vulnerable to invasions again. You can also try obtaining an item called the Mirror of Protection which temporarily blocks random players from conquering your game.
If you are joining your friend’s game, you can collect items from fallen enemies such as weapons, consumables, armor, and shields, however, you cannot loot chests or other in-game items in the game’s environment. Keep in mind that you can only invite one other person to join you for co-op gameplay.
That is pretty much all you need to know about crossplay, cross-progression, and co-op features in the new Lords of the Fallen game.
