Highlights
Starfield is Bethesda’s Highly ambitious Space RPG set to release on 6th September for Xbox Series X/S and PC through Windows Store, Game Pass, and Steam.
Bethesda’s Todd Howard has mentioned that Starfield will feature over 1,000 explorable planets spread across 100 star systems

Starfield is the upcoming Space RPG from Bethesda Games’ stable. If you have played the Fallout series before, you will be familiar with Bethesda’s RPG elements and quirks. It is safe to say that Starfield will also have that sense of familiarity and contain elements that made the Fallout games very memorable. Starfield’s premise starts with the introduction of the colonized space called the Settled Systems. The year is 2330 and humanity has left Earth’s solar system and colonized another part of the Milky Way which is about 50 light years away.  The Settled System boasts the availability of over a thousand planets each with its own star systems, species, and weather patterns.

Starfield Lore

Players are put in the year 2330 where they live life on Settled Systems. Twenty years ago, there was a Colony War between the two main factions present in the game which are the United Colonies and The Freestar Collective. Humanity is still suffering from the consequences of this war. Players are put in an environment where the tensions between these two factions are rising. You can expect to have a side questline working for these factions, similar to Betehsda’s other RPGs. Although there is no specific information regarding the details of the Colony wars, it can be considered as the biggest part of Starfield’s Lore.

Starfield Notable Locations

New Atlantis City

New Atlantis City

Starfield features a wide range of locations which range from urban areas like cities to abandoned planets. There are three main cities present in the game. The first one is the city of New Atlantis which is the capital of the United Colonies. According to Emil Pagliarulo, the design director of the game, New Atlantis City would be the most diverse and portrays a close resemblance to what Earth might look like in the future.

City of Neon

City of Neon

The second location is a city with a fishing port called Neon. The city was created by the Xenofresh Corporation. Initially, the city was barren and covered by water which was perfect for catching fish. It was later discovered that the fish in Neon had psychoactive properties which led to the invention of a drug called Aurora. Neon has now transformed into a hub for people wanting to experience the drug, as it is illegal everywhere else.

Akila City

Akila City

The third main city portrayed in Starfield is Akila City which is governed by the Freestyle Collective. This city is also very diverse in terms of its inhabitants who live there because they follow the same ideologies as the Freestyle Collective. The city is surrounded by walls to keep out dangerous alien creatures called the Ashta. The city is also said to be surrounded by a beautiful mountain range. We can expect Akila City to be bigger and more populated than Neon and New Atlantis City.
