Starfield, a massive spacefaring RPG from Bethesda, is the first new universe from the developer in 25 years. While exploring the immersive world of Starfield, you'll come across factions, which can be your friend or foe. There are a lot of different factions, which can prove to be overwhelming for new players. To help you, we've compiled a list of all major Starfield factions that you need to know about and which ones you can join.
All Major Starfield Factions
Just like all previous Bethesda games, the factions you choose to help will affect how they feel about you and each other. Here are all the major factions in the game –
Constellation
The first faction you will join in the game is Constellation, known as the "last group of space explorers." Sarah Morga, an ex-soldier and recruitable companion, leads it. This faction is all about exploring space and uncovering secrets it holds. Completing faction quests will help you unlock various Starfield powers, which can completely alter the way you play the game. Alongside Sarah Morgan, you will also be working with Barrett and Noel.
United Colonies
United Colonies stands as one of the two largest factions in the Settled System in the United Colonies. Its home is located in New Atlantis, one of the biggest cities in the game. About 20 years before the main story's events, it was involved in a Colony War against another major faction known as the Freestar Collective. United Colonies is a strong faction when it comes to military strength and political influence. For players, it's one of the most rewarding factions.
Freestar Collective
Once at odds with United Colonies, Freestar Collective is the second largest faction in the game, formed in 2189. In the current story, they're all about preserving their own well-being and calling themselves "peacekeepers" who protect their kind.
If you're looking for space west vibes in Starfield, Freestar Collective is the perfect faction for you. During the faction's storyline, you will solve mysteries related to mercenary factions and save the Freestar region's citizens.
Crimson Fleet
Crimson Fleet is the ultimate collection of space bandits and outlaws. They are the space pirates in Starfield's universe. You can find their headquarters, called "The Key," in the Kyrx System. Crimson Fleet is against the United Colonies and works with key members such as Naeva and Delagado. If you're interested in doing an evil run of the game, this faction is the right choice. This faction offers you the best rewards in the game with some of the most unique and fun quests.
Ryujin Industries
The mega-corporations can also be found in space, and Ryujin Industries is the top dog. They have total control over the city of Neon and are not afraid of using dirty tricks. If you sign up for this faction, get ready to commit a lot of space corporate espionage and work your way up the corporate ladder. Helping them would help you earn a significant number of credits and free houses.
