Stardew Valley Update 1.6 celebrates the game’s 8-year anniversary with Creator Eric Barone, also known online as ConcernedApe, announcing the news on social media. Barone took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the update with a release date set in March for PC, with console and mobile soon to follow. The creator had given players a sneak peek of what they can expect with this major patch back in September 2023. Here is all we know about Stardew Valley Update 1.6.

Stardew Valley Update 1.6 Release Date

Stardew Valley Update 1.6 will go live for Steam on Tuesday, 19th March, 2024. The official patch notes will be available on the day of launch.

Stardew Valley Update 1.6: What’s new?

Stardew Valley 1.6 will add some new content to the game including a new major festival and two new mini festivals. It will also add new late-game content, focusing on expanding each of the skill areas which includes farming, fishing, mining, foraging, and combat. Other late-game content additions include Joja alternatives to some of the late-game quests. A new type of reward will also be available for completing billboard requests.

The update will also add a new farm type to the existing Standard, Riverland Forest, Hill-top, Wilderness, Four Corners and Beach Farm types. Each farm type features a unique layout and offers different benefits for your playstyle.

NPCs will be getting more dialogue, with over 100 new lines being added as well as winter outfits. Along with this, many smaller additions will also be coming to the game with update 1.6.

Stardew Valley Update 1.6 will be a major one.

Stardew Valley: From indie sensation to culinary delight and beyond

Stardew Valley was first released on 26th February 2016 and has taken the simulator world by storm. The game, which was a solo project by Barone, enjoyed immense success since its release. Stardew Valley was met with “overwhelmingly positive” reviews and sold over 30 million copies worldwide. The game’s soundtrack, which was also composed by Barone, spawned a concert tour called Stardew Valley: Festival of Seasons.

An official Stardew Valley Cookbook will also be coming out on 14th May 2024. The book will feature more than 50 recipes from the game (adapted to work in your real life kitchen), including some of Stardew Valley’s unique fare like the Lucky Lunch, Strange Bun, Seafoam Pudding, Pink Cake, and much more.

Barone will continue working on Stardew Valley updates alongside the development of a new game titled “Haunted Chocolatier".
