The remodeled PlayStation 5 will be available in the US this November and slowly roll out globally, in the following months.
The newer console is 30% smaller than the newer console and comes with four smaller removable panels, unlike the two large panels on the previous model.
The redesigned PS5 comes with 1TB storage space as opposed to the 825GB found in the outgoing version.

The PlayStation 5 has quickly made its way to the top of the console leaderboards becoming one of the best-selling current-gen consoles, with 40 million units sold so far. Sony’s latest console certainly has an impressive set of specifications and features like 4K 120HZ support, Raytracing, etc to satisfy all your gaming needs. Although the PS5 is pretty large in size, it is still spectacular to look at, with its futuristic design.

Considering the fact that the console is nearing three years of presence in the market, it is about time that Sony introduced an overhauled design with the new slim model that is set to eventually replace the current PS5. Let’s dive right into it.

The New Console With the Smaller Design Comes With a 1TB SSD

The upcoming console with the reimagined design has been reduced by over 30% in its overall volume and 18% and 24% compared to the previous models. It also replaces the two large panels on either side with four smaller panels, two on each side. While the top portion of the console is glossy on both sides, the bottom panel comes with a matte finish, further distinguishing itself from previous design elements. Although the technical specifications remain the same, there has been a bump in storage with the new model offering 1 TB of storage as opposed to the 825 GB on the original PS5.

This new model of the PlayStation 5 will be available starting this November and it will fully replace the existing version after its stocks are cleared up. Sony will start selling to the US in November and the update will continue to roll out globally over the following months. It will be available at select local retailers and on PlayStation Direct.

You can also purchase the new PS5’s console covers starting from early 2024. The company has decided to include colors such as all-matte black and deep earth color variants such as Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver.

Is It Worth It to Wait for the Upcoming Playstation 5 Model?

Considering the fact that the upcoming model is priced similarly to the existing model, we recommend waiting for the newer one, provided you are okay with the waiting period of over three to four months. However, with the release of games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Modern Warfare 3, etc, it is understandable if you wish to purchase the console right away. If you do not mind the extra space it occupies or the 825 GB of storage space it offers, there is absolutely no reason to wait for the newer console as they are pretty much the same in terms of its technical hardware.

That is pretty much everything you need to know about the newly redesigned PlayStation 5. Check out the official PlayStation blog if you wish to take a look at the newer console’s technical specs.
