Leaker @Budzcario made a post on X stating that Rockstar has been working on a new IP ever since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2.
This speculation is backed up by a Trademark made by publisher Take-Two in October of this year.

Adding to the list of rumors regarding Rockstar after the GTA 6 trailer, we now have leakers speculating that the studio has been working on a new IP ever since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR), which was in 2018. This means that this new project has been in development alongside the next GTA title that is slated to be released in 2026. This rumored IP supposedly opens up a new path for Rockstar as it is a departure from its traditional genre of games. Without further ado, let’s see what the fuss is all about.

Rumored Project Could Possibly Be a New Direction for Rockstar

On 24th December, Leaker @Budzcario made a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) to point out that there are 2 new IPs in development, one being AGENT, an unreleased stealth game announced for the PlayStation 3 back in 2009. According to the leaker, this one is under development but it is not coming out anytime soon, at least not until the new generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles arrive.

The other is a brand-new IP for the studio, which might possibly be a Medieval Fantasy title, following the likes of Elden Ring and  Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls. This project has apparently been in development since 2018, right after the release of RDR2, which makes us wonder about its settings, which might feature wildlife elements from the sequel in its environment.

This comes from a Trademark report that Rockstar’s Publisher Take-Two had filed this October, for “PROJECT ETHOS”, “PROPLAY”, and “AWESOME NEWS NETWORK”, with the former being the most interesting one, hinting at the possibility of a new IP given the listed goods and services it is intended for.

This means that this rumored title could be a new direction for Rockstar, departing from their contemporary elements and bringing in old-school sword fighting mechanics, and even an array of other RPG elements such as a leveling system, fictional elements like magic, and otherworldly powers, etc.

While this seems highly unlikely as Rockstar would have allotted most of its resources to GTA 6, GTA Online, and RDR2, the leaker also mentions that this new IP has been assisted by a “hugely popular developer” ever since the beginning of its development. Although this sounds a little persuading, it is still possible that the trademark was to indicate another developer under its wing such as 2K,  Firaxis Games, Blue Shift Inc., Visual Concepts, etc.

That is pretty much everything we have on this rumored game. There is no official announcement regarding any of this from Rockstar or its publisher Take-Two, so please take all of these speculations with a grain of salt.
