There are four different types of archetypes present in Remnant 2. They are the Gunslinger, Challenger, Handler, and Medic.
In this article, we will take a look at the revamped archetype system in Remnant 2 along with its perks, loadouts, and abilities.

Remnant 2 has a completely overhauled archetype system from the first game. In Remnant: From the Ashes archetypes were simply considered as initial loadouts that players start the game with. Players can easily earn a different loadout as they progress through the game. Remnant 2 builds on its archetype system by introducing perks and skill sets to each class, along with a customized loadout. Players who progress through the game can unlock new archetype features by upgrading and gaining experience. Each archetype has its own progression system that unlocks unique gameplay features.

Remnant 2 Archetype Perks

Every single archetype present in the game will have its own unique set of perks. Every archetype has a Prime perk that is aimed to be the core identity of that archetype. Every other added perk will be considered as secondary.

Apart from the prime perk, there are also four distinct perks that buff up your character. These are:

Damage Perk: Obviously, the damage perk increases the scaled damage output of your archetype. Its effectiveness will also increase as you level up your character.

Team Perk: The team perk affects all of your allies regardless of if you are in co-op mode or not. Team perks might increase ammo drops, increase shared healing or even buff up the defense of your team.

Utility Perk: Utility perks provide quality-of-life changes according to the gameplay methods of a certain archetype. If an archetype is dependent on its sprinting or evading techniques, then this perk might reduce its stamina costs.

Relic Perk: Apart from working as the primary heal in the game, the relic perk also helps players by temporarily buffing their archetypes based on their skill set. Upon consumption, it'll boost your core stats for a brief period of time.

Remnant 2 Archetype Skills

Archetype Skills are special abilities pertaining to a specific archetype. This might sound similar to a prime perk because it is also unique to a specific archetype. If you want to reap the benefits of a healing or a shooting skill, then you have to stick to the Medic or the Gunslinger.

These archetype skills work on a cooldown basis and are only available for a brief duration considering the fact that using them at the right time can be game-changing. Each archetype can choose between three different skills and swap them out at no extra cost.

Remnant 2 Archetype Traits

Apart from, skills and prime perks, you also have the option to build the traits of your archetype. As you level up and progress through Remnant 2, you will automatically gain +1 to your specific trait. Upon reaching a maximum trait level on one archetype, you can carry it over by spending a few trait points.

Remnant 2 Dual Archetypes

Remnant 2 really differentiates itself from the original game by allowing players to combine two archetypes at the same time, creating hybrid archetypes. This basically allows you to let your creativity go wild as there are now tons of options to build your character. At any point in the game, you can switch between your primary and secondary archetypes, allowing for a truly liberating Remnant experience.
