Highlights
Remnant 2 has nine playable classes that you can unlock throughout your playthrough.
While some of the classes are available from the get-go, others are hidden away from plain sight.

Remnant 2 is the long-anticipated sequel to Remnant From the Ashes. It introduces some elements from the Souls-like genre to a looter shooter format just like its predecessor but classes have a much bigger impact in this new game and it enables better build-crafting. Remnant 2 development studio Gunfire Games did an excellent job of keeping a lot of playable content hidden from players in its trailers and there are tons of hidden classes that you can unlock as you progress through the game.

A total of nine classes in Remnant 2 have been discovered so far and you can switch between them anytime you want. If you are wondering what each of these classes do, here is a quick rundown of their skills and playstyle in Remnant 2.

All playable classes in Remnant 2 detailed

Alchemist

The Alchemist is a support and utility-focused character. They excel at providing powerful buffs to their allies using vials and consumables. Their main role is to enhance their team's effectiveness by providing beneficial effects and protective abilities.

Challenger

The Challenger is a tank archetype, ideal for close combat situations. They have increased survivability, making them durable in battles. Accuracy is not crucial for this class, making weapons with lower accuracy suitable for them. The Challenger is a great choice for beginners or those new to the Souls-like genre.

Explorer

The Explorer is a skilled specialist known for finding valuable items and providing essential team utility. They excel at spawning additional items and rarer drops when defeating formidable enemies. Their abilities boost loot-finding capabilities, team damage, uncover hidden treasures, and improve movement speed for all allies.

Gunslinger

The Gunslinger is a mid-range DPS class that focuses on reserving ammo. They excel in dealing damage from a distance and play a crucial role in taking down enemies efficiently.

Handler

The Handler brings a Dog Companion to the fight and relies on abilities that revolve around it. In multiplayer, the Handler acts as a support class, granting various buffs to the team.

Engineer

The Engineer is a specialist in Heavy Weaponry and excels at carrying or deploying powerful armaments in turret mode. Their abilities empower Heavy Weapons, increase skill damage, and provide damage reduction to allies.

Summoner

The Summoner excels in commanding minions to do their bidding. They can empower their minions, sacrifice them for temporary boosts to their own attacks, and use relics to enhance their minions' health and damage output.

Medic

The Medic is a support-oriented class focused on healing and improving team survivability. While not as tough as other classes, the Medic plays a crucial role in keeping the team healthy and alive.

Hunter

The Hunter is a long-range damage dealer specialized in exploiting weak points and dealing burst damage. They are skilled at dealing damage from a distance and focusing on precision attacks.

While your starting class affects your experience in the early game, all classes in Remnant 2 are viable and you can switch between them whenever you want. We recommend unlocking as many classes as possible before finalizing your build.
