Although it's been less than three months since the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, it will be an eternity before the game launches for PC players. However, the modding community has taken things into their own hands again and developed an unofficial PC port for Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Unofficial PC Port By Modders
It's certain that Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will eventually make its way to the PC platform, but since the game just came out last year, it's going to be a while before PC players can enjoy the title. However, modders have taken it upon themselves and have managed to get the game running on the PC.
X User @PC_Focus shared the footage of the unofficial Marvel's Spider-Man 2 footage, which is running smoothly at 60 FPS. However, the footage still shows a lack of visible UI or textures. While the gameplay is full of glitches right now, what the developers have managed to create with this unofficial port is extremely impressive.
The X account shared a post before the end of 2023 which credited the PC port to one lone wolf screenshotted in a Discord conversation. However, the modder has made it clear that he's not going to hand the build to anyone, so unless that changes, it's unlikely that the mod will be available for anyone to play before it's completed. Of course, that's assuming the mod actually gets finished and launched in the first place, which is a huge task. We're only seeing snippets, so taking everything with a grain of salt is crucial.
When Will Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Official PC Port Launch?
If you've been cribbing to get some spidey action on PC, you might not have to wait too long. According to leaked information from Insomniac Games’ hack, development for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 PC port is all set to wrap up in the fiscal year 2024, which ends on 31st March. This means the official PC port can debut anytime from April onwards.
It's surely one of the most ambitious projects by Insomniac Games and might be one of the most expensive ports ever made. It will reportedly cost $4.6 million USD to develop, which is double the amount of the Spider-Man Remastered PC Port. No matter how good the unofficial PC port works, the official PC for the game will be much better in quality.
