Riot Games' Valorant has made a name for itself by being able to capture and bring diverse cultures around the globe through new agents introduced into the game. With millions of Indian players and a thriving Esports scene, many wonder if one of the most popular characters, Harbor, is from India or not. If you've been wondering the same, we've got you covered! Here's everything you need to know about Harbor's ethnicity in Valorant.

Valorant: Is Harbor from India?

Harbor in Valorant made its debut in the game with Episode 5 Act 3, which went live on 18th October 2022. Since then, he has made waves in the community and is a crucial agent in games for map control and safe passage onto enemy sites.

According to Valorant's lore, Harbor's real name is Varun Batra, and he hails from India. Initially, he worked for an agency called Realm, which was involved in collecting ancient relics. On his last mission, a senior team member betrayed Varun while they were looking for an artifact in Mumbai. This is the same artifact that Varun found and got water-bending powers from, allowing him to become Harbor.

However, the teammate who betrayed Batra informed Realm that he had stolen the artifact. Following that, Realm was after Batra, trying to steal his powers. During one such encounter between him and Realm operatives, he is saved by Brimstone, who welcomes him to Valorant. Now, Varun, as Harbor, is helping Valorant Protocol take on Realm and make the world a safer place.

While working on Harbor, Valorant's team ensured a faithful character representation. They were inspired by many objects of power and mysteries found in Indian legends and stories. The developers contacted several consultants from India to provide the team with research on the country's languages, traditions, cities, regions, and more. Undoubtedly, this focus on authenticity required a tremendous amount of effort and research.

So far, Harbor is the only character of Indian origin in Valorant. Given the game's popularity in India, it's only a matter of time before we get more Indian characters in the Valorant!
