Last year, the Pokemon Company (TPC) and Niantic even launched Pokemon Go app in Hindi in India. TPC also reiterated its commitment to the Indian gaming market as it renamed over 800 Pokemon in Hindi to make the game and its lore and story more accessible and relatable for fans and players in India.
Talking about the localization, Niantic Emerging Markets VP Omar Tellez reportedly said, "The Hindi version of Pokemon GO will promote inclusivity, encourage engagement, and enable more players to embark on their Pokemon GO adventures. Since the launch of the game in 2016, we have added over five lakh Pokestops across India and the company also has been organising several on-ground activations."
More recently, Pokemon Go announced a strategic partnership with McDonald's India (West and South). As part of this collaboration, Pokemon trainers can interact with Sponsored PokéStops and Gyms when they visit McDonald’s restaurants in West and South India.
Additionally, Pokemon Go also hosts Community Days regularly for the Indian community. Last year, it hosted a special event for Diwali for players. Players were treated to a special event called the Festival of Lights. This celebration was quite a feat for the Indian players. Niantic also added new celebration locations in the Indian subcontinent.
