If the PlayStation 5 is going to be your primary gaming device, it still offers excellent value for Indian gamers in 2024.
If you already own a capable gaming PC or laptop and are considering purchasing the PS5 solely for its exclusives, the decision isn’t straightforward.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 (PS5) has been one of the most sought-after consoles of this generation, selling over 54.2 million units since its initial release in November 2020. Despite this significant achievement, the PS5’s sales still fall short of Sony’s targeted numbers. In addition to this, Sony VP Naomi Matsuoka mentioned that the console will now enter the latter stage of its life cycle, which has concerned many potential buyers, especially in a price-conscious market like India. So, is the PlayStation 5 a worthwhile investment for Indian gamers in 2024? Let’s find out!

Is It Worth It to Buy a PlayStation 5 in India in 2024?

If the PlayStation 5 is going to be your primary gaming device, then yes, it is absolutely worth purchasing it in 2024. If you already own the older-gen PlayStation 4, the PS5 would be a significant upgrade, as it offers a monumental leap in terms of hardware, allowing you to run games natively on 4K HDR.

Although there was a significant shortage when the PlayStation 5 launched in the country, Sony has rectified all supply chain issues and you can now purchase the console either on online sites or by heading to a local store with no additional waiting period. Besides this, Sony also recently announced the PlayStation 5 Slim for India which will be available at all affiliated retailers from 5th April.

The upcoming PS5 Slim console will be priced at 54,990 INR for the disk version, while the digital-only PS5 Slim can be purchased for 44,990 INR. We recommend you buy the PS5 Slim as the new console will be smaller and lighter than the outgoing model, while also offering a 1TB SSD with around 850 GB of usable space, whereas the regular PS5 only comes with an 825 GB SSD with around 660 GB of free storage.

However, if you already own a gaming PC or a laptop capable of running modern games and want to purchase the PS5 solely for its exclusives, the decision isn’t as straightforward. Although the PS5 has its fair share of exclusive titles, many of them have already been launched or announced for PC.

Some notable titles that still remain exclusives to the PlayStation consoles are:

Demon's Souls
 • Demon's Souls

 • Gran Turismo 7

 • Bloodborne

 • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

 • God of War Ragnarok

 • The Last of Us (TLOU) Part 2

 • Destruction AllStars

 • Rise of the Ronin

 • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

As evident, the PlayStation 5 only offers a limited selection of exclusive titles, and some games like Ragnarok, TLOU Part 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Final Fantasy 7, potentially being candidates for PC ports in the future.
