The release of Capcom's highly anticipated RPG, Dragon's Dogma 2, is right around the corner, and players are excited to dive into this fantasy world.
Are you wondering if Dragon's Dogma 2 is open world? Here's everything you need to know.

Dragon's Dogma 2, the eagerly awaited sequel to Capcom's epic action RPG, will finally launch on 22nd March 2024. Fans can't wait to dive back into its rich, immersive world, which is available in several editions for pre-order. The original Dragon's Dogma featured many systems and elements that are making a comeback in the sequel, but what about its map? Players have been wondering if Capcom will once again be using the open-world formula for the upcoming RPG. In this guide, we'll reveal whether Dragon's Dogma 2 is an open-world title or not.

Is Dragon's Dogma 2 Open World?

Short Answer: Yes! Dragon's Dogma 2 is an open-world title set in the region of Gransys, like the first game. Although it's based in the same region, the game will take place in a world parallel to the original title.

In Capcom's Showcase, the development team mentioned how the sequel's world is four times larger than the original Dragon's Dogma. With new features and AI systems, the upcoming action RPG has much more to offer players than the first game. We can see several new locations in the showcase, from thick green forests, to heavily populated kingdoms. There's also an entire desert and dry kingdoms, where you'll encounter various adventures.

The trailers clearly show that the developers have focused on locations and exploration with Vocations such as the Trickster, specializing in using the environment for combat. You'll need all the space you can get to battle all the dragons out there.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Release Platforms

Dragon's Dogma 2 will launch on 22nd March 2024 on PC, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation 5. Pre-orders are currently live for these platforms. Unfortunately, the game will not launch on last-gen consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Like all the modern Capcom titles, the game will run on RE Engine, a powerful successor to MT Framework, the company's previous engine. The absence of older-generation consoles makes it clear that Capcom wants to focus on current-gen hardware.

That's everything you need to know about the open-world aspect of Capcom's upcoming RPG. For more guides, check out how long it takes to beat the Dragon's Dogma 2 Campaign
