How to Upgrade Weapons in Lords of the Fallen
Navigating the world of the Lords of the Fallen is no easy feat. On your journey to overthrow the demon god, Athyr, you require weapons as much as you require skills. You need weapons that can cut through glass smoothly and help you defend yourself throughout the darkness. Therefore, it is necessary to keep your weapons up-to-date in the game.
If you are rushing through the game, you are bound to miss the upgrade system. In this article, we’ll help you find the location where you can upgrade your weapons. In simple words, this article will guide you to the blacksmith called Gerlinde, who is responsible for upgrading the weapons in Lords of the Fallen.

Upgrading Weapons in Lords of the Fallen
While rushing through the game, you may go past the Pilgrim’s Perch without realizing that that is where the blacksmith resides. However, it is not your fault since there is no objective reason for you to head there. The blacksmith remains locked in a cage that can be opened with a Prison Cell key.
To find Gerlinde and free her out of prison, follow the given steps:
Continue with the game until you reach the Pilgrim’s Perch Bellroom, also known as the Vestige of the Blind Agatha checkpoint.
You’ll spot an elevator nearby. If you’ve unlocked it, then use it to go down. If not, then you should continue the path down until you reach the elevator from the lower entrance.
As you exit the elevator, turn to your left and descend the ladder.
This path will lead you to a lower pit, where you will encounter a group of hostile dogs.
Deal with the dogs and soon you will spot a prison cage with blacksmith Gerlinde stuck inside. You might hear her swearing.
To unlock the cage, you will need a prison cell key.
Obtain the key by defeating the mandatory boss, whom you can spot at the right side of the elevator. The boss is Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of Hounds.
Use the prison key to let Gerlinde free.
This will free Gerlinde. The next time that you make your way to the Skyrest Bridge, you will spot Gerlinde facing away from the Vestige and working up the stairs on the left side. Walk to her and you will be able to ask for her assistance to upgrade your weapons.
Interact with her and you can upgrade your weapons in exchange for Vigor and Deralium. Lastly, please note that the only items that can be upgraded include weapons, shields and catalysts. Armor, on the other hand, cannot be upgraded but can only be exchanged for a better one.
