Payday 3’s epic heists would not be complete without your team. You can choose to play the game with AI or get matchmade with some randoms. However, Payday 3 can be enjoyed even more when played with friends in a private lobby. Setting up a private lobby in the game is pretty simple. Here is how to set up a private lobby in Payday 3.
How to Set Up Private Lobby in Payday 3
Here’s how to set up a private lobby in Payday 3:
Navigate to ‘Heists’ from the home screen.
Pick the heist you wish to do.
Change the Lobby Type to ‘Invite Only’ and choose your desired difficulty.
Select Matchmake at the bottom of the screen to get into a game.
You can now go to the Social Menu by ‘P’ key (default on PC). You’ll see a list of friends you can invite. They are grouped together according to their platform. Since Payday 3 also features crossplay you can invite friends from across platforms. You can invite friends playing on a PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S to your lobby in Payday 3. Note that you need to have crossplay enabled for this. Payday 3 developers have set up a system where players have to make Nebula accounts, enabling them to implement crossplay.
Once you find the friend you’re looking for, send them a party invite by pressing the ‘O’ key (default on PC). Once they accept the invite, they’ll automatically join your lobby. You can also send invites while you’re matchmaking, in the pre-mission lobby or even invite them at any time during the heist.
While friends can join a ‘Friends only’ lobby at any time, you have to send out invites to them for a Private Lobby or they will not be able to join. That’s all you need to know about how to set up a private lobby in Payday 3.
How to play solo in Payday 3?
Your lobby type will be set by default to ‘Public Type’. Change it to ‘Friends Only’ or ‘Invite Only’. The ‘Friends Only’ option will work for those who do not have any players in their friend list. If you have in-game friends, then select the ‘invite only’ option. Now, click on ‘Matchmaking’ and choose one of the above options to set up a solo lobby. You’ll now find yourself in the loadout menu, where you can select your preferred weapons and spot your character. After clicking on ‘Ready’, the game will load and you will play solo, with AI teammates.
