The G-123 Thermite Grenade is part of April’s Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond.
Although it fairs decently against Bile Titans and Annihilators, it is currently in an unreliable state, as it seems to bounce off your target, rendering it ineffective.

The recently released Democratic Detonation Premium Warbond in Helldivers 2 brought several armor, weapons, and utilities that add explosive powers to your arsenal. One among them is the new G-123 Thermite Grenade, capable of burning through the armor of your targets, as it currently holds the highest Penetration stat in the game. If you are considering switching up your current throwable item for this new grenade, here’s everything you need to know before making the swap.

Here’s How You Can Get the G-123 Thermite Grenade in Helldivers 2

As mentioned above, the G-123 Thermite Grenade is offered as a part of April’s Democratic Detonation Warbond, which is available for 1,000 Super Credits. After purchasing this collection, you need to spend 15 Medals to claim the grenade from the first page of the Warbond. Here are its stats:

  • Damage: 100

  • Penetration: 7

  • Outer Radius: 2

  • Fuse Time: 2.9 Seconds

  • Traits: None

After equipping it to your loadout, you can deploy it using the G key on your Keyboard or the Right D-pad key on your controllers, the default mapping for all such throwables. You are provided with four of these grenades as standard, with the option to get two more charges while equipping armor like the GE-Trench Engineer. As always, you can also obtain more from the B-1 Supply Pack.

Unlike other grenades, the Thermite sticks to a single target and starts heating upon impact. After dealing continuous (DoT) damage during its fuse time, the grenade will explode, dealing additional damage to anything in its outer radius. While its description states that it burns through armor, it is the most effective against smaller enemies.

The Thermite Grenade seems futile against elite or boss-type enemies, requiring a significant number of charges to deal damage and kill them. Additionally, many players reported that the grenade is very inconsistent, as it seems to bounce off the targeted spots of enemies, which when paired with its low radius, does little to no damage at all.

Is the Thermite Grenade Any Good in Helldivers 2?

In comparison to the G-16 Impact, the new Thermite Grenade offers limited possibilities in terms of its usage. While it is capable of taking out Bile Tittans and Annihilator Tanks with relative ease, it is unreliable and requires strategic planning to use them effectively.

Although it does have its uses, most players will be far better using the Impact or the Stun Grenade to supplement their gunplay and stratagem use, rather than relying on the new Thermite Grenade.
