Here is a quick guide on how to join a Minecraft server directly via the official client.
While official and third-party servers can be fun to be in, you can always host your private server to play in.

Minecraft servers allow you to have different gameplay experiences. There are servers dedicated to creative mode, while others allow players to roleplay and just hang out with others. There is a server for everyone and if you want to join some of the biggest servers out there, our guide will help you out. Here is how you can join any Minecraft server in a few easy steps.

How to Join a Minecraft Server

  1. Launch Minecraft: Start the Minecraft application on your device.

  2. Access Multiplayer Menu: From the main menu, select the "Multiplayer" option.

  3. Click Add Server: On the multiplayer screen, locate and click the "Add Server" button.

  4. Enter Server Address: In the "Server Address" field, type in the IP address of the server you want to join. You can find the server's IP address on its website or by asking the server administrator.

  5. Choose Server Name (Optional): In the "Server Name" field, enter a name for the server. This is optional and only serves as a label for identifying the server in your list.

  6. Click Done: Once you've entered the IP address and (optionally) a server name, click the "Done" button.

  7. Select Server: The added server will appear in the list of multiplayer servers. Click on the server you want to join.

  8. Click Join Server: After selecting the server, click the "Join Server" button to connect to the server.

Once connected, you'll be able to interact with other players and participate in the server's activities.

Why Should You Join a Minecraft Server?

Enhanced Multiplayer Experience

Minecraft servers provide a platform to connect and play with other players from around the world. You can collaborate on building projects, engage in friendly competitions, or simply enjoy the company of fellow Minecraft enthusiasts.

Expanded Gameplay Options

Minecraft servers often introduce custom game modes, minigames, and challenges that extend beyond the vanilla experience. These variations can add a fresh perspective to the game and cater to diverse gaming preferences.

Collaborative Building and Exploration

Servers often feature large and intricate worlds that are continuously being expanded and developed by the community. Joining a server allows you to participate in these collective endeavors, contributing your creativity and skills to a shared project.

Learning and Knowledge Sharing

Minecraft servers foster a sense of community and provide opportunities to learn from other players. You can exchange tips, tricks, and strategies, gaining valuable insights that can improve your gameplay.

Social Interactions

Online gaming can be a great way to connect with people who share your interests. Minecraft servers provide a social hub where you can form friendships, engage in conversations, and build camaraderie with fellow players.

Do note that joining a server is not necessary and you can always create your own server whenever you want.
