Payday 3 is the newest entry in the long-running FPS heist franchise. While Payday 3 fans were eager to get their hands on the new game, its launch was plagued with issues, forcing developer Starbreeze Studios to take down servers for a while. On 22nd September, players started encountering a number of matchmaking issues, with many players unable to find a match. A large number of players logged in on release date to play the game resulted in Payday 3’s servers crashing. If you run into connection issues while trying to play the game, here is how to check server status in Payday 3.
How to Check Server Status in Payday 3
There is currently no official way to check for server status for Payday 3. However, you can keep an eye on official Payday 3 social media accounts. The official Payday 3 X account (formerly known as Twitter) keeps players informed about server connection and game issues.
The developer also encourages players to report any issues so they can work on a smoother gaming experience.
Payday also has a subreddit where you can look for posts about connection issues and troubleshoot them. The community typically posts announcements, and discussions around the title.
Payday 3’s bumpy launch has left players disappointed
Payday 3’s server crashes started during Early Access, followed by a rough launch with several players disappointed at connectivity issues. Many encountered a “Nebula Data Error”. Nebula is Payday 3 developer Starbreeze’s account service. Players need to sign up and sign in through their Nebula accounts to access the game. Unfortunately, Payday 3 needs to be connected to the internet at all times so connection issues meant players could not even access their loadouts or local settings. Players who tried to bypass server issues for the PC by switching platforms were unsuccessful since the game has crossplay.
The developer has since apologized to players for the botched rollout of the game. Starbreeze CEO Tobias Sjögren took to X (formerly Twitter) saying, “the infrastructure didn’t hold up as expected, and although it’s impossible to prepare for every scenario – we should be able to do better.”
