Smite 2 Alpha Testing and Release Period
The alpha testing for Smite 2 is expected to begin in the spring of 2024, featuring a cross-console playable Alpha test. Although the developers haven't provided a specific release date for the full game, players are hyped to see the sequel.
Players eager to experience Smite 2 during the alpha testing phase can sign up on the official website. The process involves providing an email address, selecting a preferred platform, and agreeing to the terms of service. However participation in the alpha test is invitation-based, so signing up early does not guarantee access.
Visual and Gameplay Enhancements
Built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 promises a significant visual upgrade compared to its predecessor. According to the developers, the move to the latest engine allows for stunning graphics, improved animations, and clearer spell effects. This includes a refined user interface and updated audio, creating a more immersive gaming experience.
The gameplay in Smite 2 will allegedly not only keep the essence of the original but also introduce systemic changes and additions. Developers asked fans to expect deeper layers of strategy and creativity, with a new dedicated button for interacting with the environment, a revamped matchmaking system, and a more robust ranked play structure.
One of the standout features of Smite 2 is its cross-platform compatibility. This allows players on PC, Steam Deck, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 to play and enjoy games together. According to the announcements, the developers want to create a next-gen experience that transcends platform limitations, for a united gaming community.
Founders Series, Pro Scene, Cosmetic Migration, and Legacy Pass
On the esports side of things, the Smite 2 Founders Series was unveiled, promising many in-person LAN events for the sequel. The pro circuit for this year, dubbed the "Smite 2 Founders Series," will establish a competitive scene for the new game.
While cosmetic items from Smite 1 won't be directly carried over to Smite 2, a new Legacy Pass DLC will be added. This offers cross-generation skins for both games, along with Divine Legacy progress for Year 11. The Divine Legacy program rewards long-time players with unique skins, badges, and cross-generation skins that work between both games.
