Highlights
Iridescent Pearls in WoW Classic SoD are elusive resources used to craft several items such as Iridescent Hammers, Gem-studded Leather belts, Shifting Silver breastplates, and more.
Apart from the following locations, these pearls can also be pickpocketed from mobs such as Blackfathom Sea Witch, Mirefin Murloc, Mukrgill Oracle, Slitherblade Sea Witch, etc.

The Season of Discovery (SoD) in World of Warcraft (WoW) Classic has brought several new additions to the game in the form of new dungeons, runes, abilities, items, etc. All of this has culminated in offering a fantastic MMORPG experience for its players.

Apart from common loot, this update also brings highly sought-after materials like the Iridescent Pearls, which are a crucial ingredient for crafting Epic items by Shifting Silver Breastplate, Spidersilk Boot, Gem-studded Leather belt, and more. Let’s cut to the chase and figure out how to farm an abundance of these pearls.

Farming Iridescent Pearls in WoW Classic Season of Discovery

The Iridescent Pearls in WoW Classic have very low drop rates due to their purpose as a key ingredient in creating various materials used for forging, enchanting, tailoring, leatherwork, etc. Although they can also be obtained from mobs, their drop rates can be excruciatingly low - ranging from 0.02 to 1.56%, depending on their rarity.

Considering this, your best bet would be to farm them from Giant and Thick-shelled Clams found across numerous regions of Azeroth. Each Giant Clam supposedly has a 4% chance of dropping these elusive Pearls whereas the Thick-shelled Clams have a 3% chance. We recommend you begin with the former, as it can be found in abundance in the waterbodies of several locations such as:

  • Vile Reef in Stranglethorn Valley

  • Winterspring in Darkshore

  • Eastern Region of Wetlands

  • Duskwood in Westfall

  • Blackfathom Deeps (BFD) in Ashenvale

Blackfathom Deeps dungeon

The Blackfathom Deeps dungeon seems to be the most lucrative spot out of all, as you can find numerous Clams inside the area. We strongly recommend players attempt this only if they have cleared at least 6 out of 7 of its bosses as none of the mobs inside the dungeon will respawn if done so, allowing you to easily farm the Giant Clams for the Iridescent Pearls.

You will find 10 Clams spread across the waterbodies in the dungeon, which respawn every 30 minutes. Moreover, the Elite Naga inside the area will also drop Thick-shelled Clams, further increasing your chances of obtaining this precious resource.

Apart from this, you can also extend your hunt for Iridescent Pearls by exploring the waterbodies outside the Azurelode Mine of Hillsbrad Foothills and at the Bluegill Marsh in the Wetlands. However, you need to watch out for the Murloc enemies found in both regions.
