Riot Games has been expanding the League of Legends universe in the last few years. Apart from League of Legends, its flagship multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), Riot Games has developed and released other games. The company also has Riot Forge, a third-party publishing label within Riot Games that complements Riot's research and development program. Riot Forge's goal is to bring new games from the League of Legends universe to players by teaming up with experienced and talented developers from around the world.
Having said all that, here are some of the other games that are a part of the League of Legends universe.
Expanding on the League of Legends Universe
The universe of League of Legends (LoL) is vast and diverse with many characters. By just playing LoL, a player would not understand the lore behind it all. As a result, there are other games that take up a small part of the League of Legends story and expand upon it. Here are some of the games that are based on League of Legends.
Hextech Mayhem
Hextech Mayhem is a rhythm platformer and a spinoff of League of Legends. The game’s storyline is connected with the regions of Zaun and Piltover. The game is developed by Choice Provisions and is published by Riot Forge. Hextech Mayhem was initially released on 16th November 2021 and is available on Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, GOG, Epic Games, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Hextech Mayhem allows players to play as Ziggs. As Ziggs runs through the streets of Piltover in each level of the game, players have to make him dodge obstacles in his path and help him escape Piltover’s Enforcers led by Heimerdinger.
The Mageseeker: A League Of Legends Story
The Mageseeker is an action RPG that follows Sylas in the events after his escape from captivity. According to the lore, “Having now broken free, Sylas lives as a hardened revolutionary, using the magic of those around him to destroy the kingdom he once served… and his band of outcast mage followers seems to grow by the day.” This 2D action RPG lets players raise a rogue mage army and lead a revolution against the kingdom of Demacia. It was developed by Digital Sun, the studio behind Moonlighter.
Convergence
Convergence, this game is a single-player 2D action platformer that will allow players to take “control of the clock.” The game features Ekko, the boy who shattered time, as the main character. Many of you might recognize Ekko from the hit TV series Arcane. It was developed by Double Stallion Games and published by Riot Forge.
Players can explore the spectacular world of Zaun as Ekko, a young inventor with an ingenious device to manipulate time.
Ruined King: A League Of Legends Story
Ruined King is a 2021 turn-based role-playing video game developed by Airship Syndicate and published by Riot Forge. The game is set in Bilgewater, a cursed region filled with a corrupting force called the Black Mist. The player controls a party of six characters from League of Legends to find the source of the Black Mist: Pyke, Braum, Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Ahri, and Yasuo.
Song of Nunu
Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story is a single-player story adventure developed by Tequila Works. The game is slated for a Fall 2023 release. Players will be able to dive into an immersive narrative set in the undiscovered reaches of the Freljord, where every step brings them closer to the truth about Nunu and Willump’s past. In this game, you play as Nunu, a young boy searching for his mother with the help of his best friend, Willump.
Legends of Runeterra
Legends of Runeterra is a digital collectible card game that features many champions from League of Legends along with other characters, both old and new, from the world of Runeterra. The game was released in 2020, and was inspired by the physical collectible card game Magic: The Gathering. The developers of the game sought to create a game within the same genre that significantly lowered the barrier to entry.
Project L
Riot Games’ upcoming fighter game based on League of Legends is called Project L and this game made its debut as a demo at Evolution Championship (Evo) Series 2023. Project L is the placeholder name for Riot Games' fighter game, as with every other Riot title, and is being developed by former members of Radiant Entertainment. Currently, the confirmed League of Legends champions for Project L are as follows:
Ahri
Darius
Ekko
Illaoi
Jinx
Yasuo
Riot Games was initially developing Project L to be a 1v1 game but then made the pivot to a tag team, assist-based fighter. The game can be played in 1v1, 1v2, or 2v2 formats.
Apart from these games, you can also try and enjoy Teamfight Tactics (TFT) and League of Legends: Wild Rift, two games which are also set in the same universe.
