Epic Games Is Finally Adding First-Person Mode in Fortnite Later This Year

There’s no doubt that since its launch back in 2017, Fortnite has managed to stay extremely popular while rival titles have taken a hit. This is due to the many crossovers and special events introduced over the years and constant gameplay features being added with every Season and Chapter. While Epic Games has managed to keep the battle royale title fresh, there’s one feature that fans have always dreamed of: First-person mode. Fortunately, the community’s pleas have been finally answered, and we’re getting a first-person mode in Fortnite, but there’s a catch. 

First-Person Mode is Finally Coming in Fortnite

Epic Games had an incredibly busy State of Unreal presentation at GDC 2024 on 20th March 2024, giving us a look at the future of their battle royale title. Amongst the sea of news, the developers confirmed that they will be adding a first-person mode in Fortnite.

The rumors of first-person mode in Fortnite have been going around for years, with the first rumors dating back to 2020. However, the most significant leak happened in 2023 when @HYPEX said that a first-person mode would make its way to Fortnite that year, but it didn’t happen.  Epic Games has already added weapons to the game that switch to a first-person perspective, but that wasn’t expanded further. Players developed creative community modes that took advantage of these weapons, but fans hoped for something official from Epic Games.

However, the first-person mode won’t make its way to the main battle royale modes immediately, as Epic Games confirmed they’ll initially launch this perspective in Fortnite Creative. This is a game mode where players can develop their own modes, allowing them to design new modes and share them online for everyone to enjoy. 

When Is Fortnite First-Person Mode Coming?

Although Fortnite developers have remained silent about an exact release date for the first-person mode, they’ve confirmed that it will launch in 2024. Reputable leaker @ShiinaBR shared a screenshot of what the first-person mode will look like in Fortnite . 

First-person is a great way to enjoy many titles, but it also gives players a limited view of the world around them, and Fortnite’s environment and world are its most significant pulling factors. It will surely be interesting to see how a first-person Fortnite mode would work when it launches this year.
