Considering the popularity of Death Stranding, it is no surprise that Kojima Productions set out to make a second part, this time adding elements to make it more strange yet intriguing. Although the game is considered a walking simulator by some, the success of the first game says otherwise, with over 10 million copies being sold across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Let's take a look at what Death Stranding 2 possibly has in store for us.
Death Stranding 2 Release Date
After taking a look at the Teaser Trailer from The Game Awards 2022, we can notice that it says (working title) right beside Death Stranding 2 which says a lot about the current state of the game. However, upon taking a look at the IMDb page for Death Stranding 2, we can see that the game has the possibility to release in 2024.

Death Stranding 2 has confirmed six members of the cast so far:

While we have known and loved the first three characters from Death Stranding, we do not have any information regarding the roles of the new characters.
Death Stranding 2 Platforms
Although the first game was available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, it seems like Death Stranding 2 will only be available on PlayStation 5, as mentioned in the reveal trailer. The game runs on the Decima engine which is owned by Guerilla Games, the makers of Horizon Zero Dawn. It is more than likely to see Death Stranding 2 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive title, at least at the launch of the game. However considering that the first game made its way to PC, Death Stranding 2 might also eventually find its way on Steam.
Death Stranding 2 Story
Understanding the complex and strange story of Death Stranding 2 demands you to be familiar with the first game. Although Hideo Kojima has been silent about the story of Death Stranding 2, we can understand a bit about the story from the trailer. Death Stranding 2 might focus on Fragile’s backstory along with adding a new challenge which might possibly be larger than the first. In the trailer she asks Sam to come along with her crew and that it is time to start a new journey. It also hints at the Automated Public Assistance Company (APAC) being a faction that you might possibly fight against.
