Highlights
Cyberpunk 2077 is receiving major overhauls with the upcoming 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty expansion.
PC Gamers are now required to have an SSD as standard if they wish to seamlessly experience newer titles.
Running the game on the 4K 60 FPS with Raytracing on Overdrive will require at least an RTX 4080 and 24 GB of RAM.

CD Projekt Red’s latest game is lined up for a slew of updates in the form of the 2.0 update and the Phantom Liberty expansion. These two updates will bring the biggest changes to the game since its release back in December 2020.  Considering the fact that the game is getting major overhauls to most of its mechanics, it is no surprise that the system requirements demand more powerful components. The developers have shifted their focus to the current-gen consoles and newer PCs which means these updates will not make their way to older consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Let’s take a look at the new hardware demands.

Cyberpunk 2077 has always benefited from using an SSD due to its ever-changing dynamic environments where there are tons of events occurring in front of your eyes. Although the current version of the game does run on a traditional Hard Drive, this will no longer be the case with the updated game which lists an SSD as a minimum requirement. You can still attempt to run the game on a HDD although that would significantly downgrade your Cyberpunk experience.

Over the years, we will see more and more games that will list an SSD as a basic requirement considering the fact that devs can incorporate more spontaneous and lively environments into their games, due to the high transfer speed it offers.
