Counter-Strike 2 VAC Ban Wave Causes Chaos in the Community As Valve Takes Down Innocent Accounts
Seems like Counter-Strike 2 players will get everything but new content for the game. The CS2 community was in shambles after many players reported unfair Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) bans. These bans weren’t limited to casual folks; even professional players like Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa from M80 were hit by the VAC wave.
Gamers with packed CS2 inventories were concerned, as many of these were now suddenly worthless. However, Valve has stepped in and told the community that there’s a fix underway for the false Counter-Strike 2 VAC ban wave
Valve’s Response to the Latest False Counter-Strike 2 VAC Bans
The official CS2 X account confirmed that innocent accounts that were hit by the ban wave will be restored. It isn’t clear what led to false VAC bans in Counter-Strike 2; however, the studio mentions it was a part of yesterday’s update to the game, which led to false VAC bans, although the specifics are still known. Prior to this, players believed that a ban wave was caused due to a recent update to NVIDIA drivers.
Many players, especially skin collectors and professionals, were caught off guard by the bans. However, it’s not the first time we’ve seen false VAC hits in Valve’s Counter-Strike. Last month, an update to AMD CS2 settings caused VAC bans for players who used AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature.
What’s Wrong With Counter-Strike 2’s VAC System?
Since Counter-Strike 2’s launch a few months ago, VAC has been causing major issues for the developer. Recently, a few players were hit with a ban for high DPI due to an in-game bug that was consistently reproducible.
Initially, Valve promised that the current iteration, VAC, would be one of the most significant upgrades in Counter-Strike 2, stopping matches in progress when the game deducts a cheater. However, the system hasn’t lived up to all promises. It’s no secret that even the Premier mode at high ELOs is filled with an insane number of cheaters.
All VAC issues have made it clear that there’s still a long way to go before Valve’s system works as intended. Even FACEIT already has solutions to tackle this problem with its intrusive anti-cheat, and Valve must bring a similar solution to put an end to situations like these.
