Considering its hardware limitations, it is highly unlikely that the Nintendo Switch could smoothly run the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2.
There has been no official announcement from Capcom or Nintendo regarding the existence or development of a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Switch port.

Capcom’s second entry of Dragon’s Dogma is all set to launch on 22nd March, exciting numerous fans who are eager to try out the significant graphical improvements along with several new classes, overhauled game mechanics, and more. The game is currently set to launch for platforms like PC and current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Naturally, many Nintendo fans are wondering if they can play this sequel, as they were able to play Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen which came to the Switch handheld in 2019. Without further ado, let’s delve into all the possibilities.

Could Dragon’s Dogma 2 Launch for the Nintendo Switch?

The Nintendo Switch has cemented itself as one of the most popular handheld consoles in the market, which despite its hardware limitations, continues to receive numerous old and new AAA titles for its platform. Examples of this include games like Monster Hunter Rise, Control, Hogwarts Legacy, and more.

However, it is highly unlikely that Dragon’s Dogma 2 follows the same path, considering that it's a graphically demanding game even for most PC gamers. Nintendo Switch was initially released back in 2017 and while there are a few latest AAA titles present in it, the handheld’s hardware limitations have begun to severely intervene in the development of newer games.

Additionally, you will notice that the Switch has a higher number of older AAA games like Capcom’s own Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen which launched on the Nintendo handheld in 2019, which is six years after its initial release date. There are several other examples of this such as CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Dark Souls Remastered, etc.

Moreover, there has been no official announcement made by Capcom to indicate the potential of a Nintendo Switch port of the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2. Unfortunately, the handheld’s capabilities are more in co-relation with older-gen consoles such as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S than the newer standalone consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

However, things might change with the release of the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, which is speculated to be equipped with the Nvidia Tegra T239 chipset based on Samsung’s nodes, utilizing 128bit-LPDDR5 bandwidth. This could potentially put it closer to the Xbox Series S in terms of GPU performance. Sadly, its comparatively weak CPU might still be a letdown.
