Legendary Actions from Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) have also been added to the game for the tabletop game's fans.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5 is now live and brings two new game modes that completely change how the game is played. The Legendary Action system from Dungeons and Dragons is finally here to give hardcore fans of the tabletop game a truer experience in-game. There are playable epilogues in the game as well so if you were not happy with the final moments of the game, you will now have a more fleshed-out experience. That is not all that is available in the new patch so here is a quick rundown of everything new in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5.

What’s New in Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 5?

In Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the Legendary Action system is a game mechanic that allows certain powerful creatures, such as dragons and ancient giants, to take additional actions during combat. This helps to balance the action economy against these formidable foes, making encounters with them more dynamic and engaging.

Legendary Actions are not limited to players alone.  Legendary creatures have a pool of Legendary Actions that they can use each round of combat. The number of actions available typically ranges from 3 to 5, depending on the creature's strength.

Playable Epilogues:

  • Experience the consequences of your actions as you delve into brand-new epilogues that provide closure to each player's journey.

  • Explore the divergent paths that await your characters based on the decisions you've made throughout the game.

New Game Modes:

  • Honor Mode: Embark on a more hardcore D&D experience with permadeath enabled for all characters.

  • Custom Mode: Tailor your playthrough by adjusting various difficulty settings and enabling or disabling specific gameplay mechanics.

Improved Inventory Access:

  • Manage the inventory of all companions from a single UI, regardless of their current party status.

  • Easily compare items and equipment to optimize your character builds.

Performance Enhancements:

  • Address performance issues, particularly in Act III, to ensure a smoother gameplay experience.

  • Implement dynamic resolution for PlayStation 5 to maintain consistent frame rates.

If you were looking for a more hardcore experience, patch 5 is the perfect time to jump back into Baldur’s Gate 3.
