Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 is well on its way to becoming a Game of the Year contender with numerous players jumping in to try the D&D title every day. The studio has reported that the game has exceeded their expectations and has been a massive success in their books. Its engaging gameplay has made players make numerous attempts to play through the game at multiple levels of difficulty to experience a challenging Baldur’s Gate experience.
Considering this fact, there are rumors floating around online that the devs have decided to add a new level of difficulty that will really challenge even veterans of D&D games. Let’s go ahead and take a look!
BG 3 Will Possibly Get an Honour Mode Similar to Divinity: Original Sin 2
Numerous players who purchased BG 3 on GOG have reportedly seen a new achievement called Foehammer which requires you to complete the game in Honour Mode. At the time of writing, this achievement has not been added to the Steam or the PlayStation 5 versions of the game.
Although there is no official information on what this game mode will bring to the table, there are numerous speculations as to how it will work considering that the same “Honour” difficulty was part of Larian’s previous Divinity: Original Sin 2. Currently, BG 3 has three difficulty modes such as Explorer, Balanced, and Tactician, the last one is currently the one for veterans who know exactly what they are doing.
If this new mode plays out anything like the one in Larian’s previous title, BG 3 will have to deal with permadeath where they can only access a single game file. If your entire party is out of commission, your save file will be deleted, forcing you to start a new game again.
Although you can challenge yourself by simply not loading up another save, having a dedicated game mode certainly eliminates even the slightest possibility for you to jump back into your old checkpoint, even if you find it enticing.
Veterans of the game are excited upon hearing this news as many have already requested the devs to add a higher level of difficulty. In the meantime, you can unofficially attempt to play the game on brutal levels of difficulty by using mods such as the TacticianPlus mod.
