The Caged Heart of the Barber is one of the most sought-after Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4: Season of the Malignant. What does the Caged Heart of the Barber do in Diablo 4?
The Caged Heart of the Barber is a type of Malignant Heart that can be inserted into any malignant sockets, found in Jewelry. Once inserted, hearts can be replaced, but not removed.
Effect (Wrathful Heart Level 1): Critical Strikes and all subsequent damage within [2.0 - 4.0] seconds is absorbed by your target. Then, the absorbed damage erupts onto surrounding enemies. Stored damage is increased by 11%[x] per second.
In Diablo 4's Season 1, Malignant Hearts are socketable items that you can farm. You can equip up to three Caged Hearts simultaneously: one in your Amulet and one in each of your two rings.
To obtain low-level Caged Hearts, defeat Malignant Monsters found all across Sanctuary. For rare Malignant Hearts, you can use the new Diablo 4 Malignant Invoker item on Overgrowths that appear in Malignant Tunnel dungeons.
These Malignant Hearts come in four color variants, with a total of 32 across all classes. You can insert them into jewelry with matching infested sockets of the same color to unlock potent class buffs.
How to get the Caged Heart of the Barber in Diablo 4
In Diablo 4 Season 1, there are several ways to get Malignant Hearts. You can find them by defeating Malignant enemies in the game world, or you can salvage old hearts and use the materials to craft new ones at Cormond's wagon, which is marked by a green leaf icon on the map.
To enter Malignant Tunnel dungeons, complete Seasonal dungeons. At the end of these dungeons, you'll encounter an Overgrowth. Use a specifically colored Invoker to activate it, and it will summon a powerful Malignant Elite. Defeating this Elite will drop more powerful Hearts of the same color type.
To craft new Malignant Hearts at Cormond's Wagon, you'll need a resource called Ichor. You can obtain Ichor from Salvaged Malignant Hearts or by killing lesser Malignant Monsters.
The four types of Malignant Hearts are Vicious, Brutal, Devious, and Wrathful. Salvaging each type will yield different Ichor types that match its color. Vicious, Brutal, and Devious hearts can give you between 5-15 Ichor, depending on their rarity and level, while a Wrathful heart will return 2-5 Ichor of all other Heart types.
If you want to create a random Vicious Heart at Cormond's Wagon, you'll need 70 Ichor from any two of the other colored hearts combined. To craft the Caged Heart of the Barber which is a Wrathful Heart, you will need 70 Ichor from two of the other types (35 each). The heart you create will match your level and can be used by the class you are playing.
