Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) has become popular in the Indian gaming community, with various organizations and content creators exploring it. GTA V is hands down one of the best-selling games of all time. The game still holds the world record for ‘highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours' with over $815 Million USD generated. In recent years, the roleplaying (RP) community has been the sole reason for the renewed interest in the game. Thanks to these RP servers, content creators have been able to engage with their audiences, who have also been able to revel and connect with their favorite streamers.
SOULCITY has been gaining traction on Loco and is one of the most sought-after entertainment servers by hordes of viewers on the platform. Here’s why SOULCITY is a big hit on Loco.
SOULCITY is spearheading the GTA V RP scene on Loco
The Indian Gaming Community (IGC) has always benefited from big collaborations and at the start of this year, S8UL Esports and Velocity Gaming joined forces to create a new GTA V RP server called SOULCITY. The streamers from both organizations come together regularly to play on the same server and they stream on Loco predominantly.
It goes without saying that Loco is an enabler of this iconic venture between S8UL Esports and Velocity Gaming for their SOULCITY server. The continued growth of Roleplay streams, especially SOULCITY content, on the platform, is a testament to Loco’s commitment to spearheading campaigns that the audience wants. Loco is no stranger when it comes to supporting unique content such as GTA V RP. Last year Loco’s Turf Wars was led by numerous creators who competed in the Turf Wars game mode in GTA Online.
The cherry on top is Loco’s accessibility and usability which make it the go-to platform for many viewers as they sit back and watch their favorite SOULCITY streamers. Additionally, they are also encouraged to actively interact with the streamers, make gameplay-related suggestions, and help make decisions in-game.
The owner of Velocity Gaming, Manoj “Sentinel” Kashyap said the initial Velocity RP server was predominantly created for planned, scripted content. However, a lot of fans wanted to actively play on Velocity RP and the server became full-fledged. “To initially make the server, the initial development phase and all that requires a lot of funding. It’s not easy to hire developers, buy the scripts, design, and all that…it is not easy,” said Sentinel.
He later said that Velocity pitched the idea to Goldy bhai and Thug (Animesh Agarwal) and gave them a presentation explaining how SOULCITY will be different from other RP servers and the content they have planned for it. Following this, Sentinel said the idea was welcomed with open arms and that’s how the SOULCITY RP server came to fruition.
After the server was officially announced, Lokesh “Goldy” Jain, co-owner of S8UL Esports, said, “There will be a lot of things different this time. The mistakes made in the past will not be repeated again. All the problems and issues you had will hopefully be solved. At the end of the day, it is going to be an amazing role-play experience for all of you.”
Recently, in a SOULCITY community meeting, Goldy revisited some of the rules of the server and touched upon things that could get players banned on the server. Goldy also showed fans a preview of all the locations featured in SOULCITY including the prison, hospital, and other iconic places.
On 22nd March, when the SOULCITY trailer was released, it was met with immense hype. Fans were excitedly decoding all the easter eggs in the video, including the entry of fan favorites Thug, Tanmay “ScoutOp” Singh, and Naman “MortaL” Mathur.
Fans who have been watching hours of GTA V Roleplay streams were able to identify all the characters who were featured in the trailer and also guessed the joining of Thug, Scout, and MortaL just by the accessories they were carrying in the video.
SOULCITY’s Rise to Fame
SOULCITY’s success and its stardom can be attributed to the fact that it is lively and filled with so many members of the Indian gaming community. Of late, viewers have been thoroughly enjoying the duo of S8UL creators ScoutOp and Gulrez "JokerKiHaveli" Khan on Loco. In the SOULCITY, ScoutOp goes by the name Dom and Joker is called Gullu. Another duo whose interaction the fans loved during these RP streams on Loco was Siddhant “Sid” Joshi and 8bit Lokesh “Goldy” Jain. While Sid’s character is one of two orphaned brothers called Nazakat bhai, Goldy’s RP character is named Rocket Singh.
What makes SOULCITY the most entertaining server on GTA V RP is that it has brought out the other side of streaming personalities like Sid, ScoutOp, and MortaL Mathur, who, otherwise, normally shy away from roleplaying games. Thanks to the initiative between S8UL and Velocity Gaming, the fans get to see some of the top Indian content creators collaborate regularly to come up with engaging and funny storylines.
Some of the other streamers on the RP server include Loco regulars like 8bit Ayan “Rebel” Ali, Parv “Soul Regaltos” Singh, Arpit “HeadFlicker” Wadhawan, and Raj “Snax” Verma.
SOULCITY’s Ironclad Rules
The level of roleplay varies from one server to another. Some servers are fully committed to hardcore roleplaying and even asking questions regarding the controls of the game is frowned upon in those servers. On the other hand, some of them are a bit less strict. SOULCITY has the right balance of hardcore roleplaying, fun, and action, and also strictly adheres to its rules and regulations to maintain the server’s integrity.
The SOULCITY server has players from different parts of the country but it is heavily moderated and monitored to keep things smooth and problem-free. Those who sign up for SOULCITY are vetted and whitelisted before entering this massive server. However, once a player is accepted, they have the creative freedom to express their true selves and bring out their alter egos to light amongst the best of the best.
SOULCITY upholds the same rules and regulations for all its members, including the best streamers from India, making the server fair to all. The server leaders convene community meetings on Discord to brush up and review the rules regularly. Recently, Goldy banned Ayan “Rebel” Ali from playing on the server for three days for exploiting a bug and sharing it with other members apart from discussing gameplay-relation information. Additionally, Goldy also warned ScoutOP and MortaL for breaking some of the SOULCITY RP rules on their respective streams.
SOULCITY strictly monitors all its streamers and its members and issues warning when people break the rules. Some of the rules include no watch party for members of SOULCITY, and keeping their RP character names realistic, among many others. FPS boosting, metagaming, and forming gangs immediately without a natural progression are also bannable on the server.
Iconic Alteregos & Characters
Another major reason for SOULCITY’s success is its mix of veteran and seasoned roleplayers and new players who are interested in exploring this big community. Watching experienced players interact with others on the server is appealing and entertaining. Viewers are able to relate to the storyline and character development that each streamer brings to the table. As we know, GTA V RP streamers have unique alter-egos that they portray to take their gameplay to the next level, and over time, we are invested in these characters.
Unlike competitive games, players do not have to worry about bringing out their A-game all the time and they can spend time simply talking to others and having fun doing goofy stuff.
While action-packed games like Valorant or Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) might not be everyone’s cup of tea, games with life and character like GTA V RP always touch the audience.
SOULCITY brings colorful storylines and vivid characters that are universal and likable. Viewers are kept on the edge of their seats as they follow the narrative just like watching a gripping movie or TV series.
As usual, when you enter SOULCITY, you are given options to customize your character and choose your features, inheritance, the props that you carry, and so on. The server also hosts in-game events and minigames like races and boxing matches to keep things interesting and novel.
Members of the server take up different jobs and roles like Mayor of the city, policemen, security, and many more. Recently, streamers JokerKiHaveli and 8bit Rebel formed their own political parties and fought over becoming the Mayor of the city.
In another hilarious activity on the SOULCITY server, ScoutOP flagged off a two-wheeler race only for the vehicles to randomly blow up into balls of flame at the finish line, killing all the players.
