In the bustling world of Indian gaming and esports, 2023 was a year of triumphs and challenges according to Anuj Tandon, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of JetSynthesys' gaming division. In an interview with AFK Gaming, he reflected on the past year, and highlighted significant milestones that shaped the industry.

Biggest Achievements of Indian Gaming and Esports in 2023

The year kicked off with a monumental move by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who incorporated esports into multi-sports events, setting a positive tone for the gaming landscape. Amendments to esports regulations by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the Ministry of Sports underscored the government's recognition of the industry. Against this backdrop, 2023 witnessed global victories, mainstream acceptance, and increased brand investments, painting a groundbreaking period for Indian esports.

Tandon said, "The launch and success of our IPs like the Global e-Cricket Premier League (GEPL) and Skyesports Masters marked a significant milestone, illustrating the rising popularity and acceptance of esports as a mainstream form of entertainment. In fact, GEPL was a first-of-a-kind format not just in India but also globally and introduces a new esportsable game Real Cricket 24 which has a very exciting future."

He also acknowledged the resurgence of popular games like BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile Indai) from KRAFTON, which breathed new life into the industry. However, Tandon candidly discussed a major challenge faced in 2023 when the absence of certain games led to stagnation.

Recognizing the need for diversity in the esports ecosystem, JetSynthesys took the lead with innovations like GEPL (Real Cricket) and Skyesports Masters (CS).

Looking at 2024 and Beyond

As Tandon sets his sights on 2024 and beyond, he emphasizes the lessons learned from overcoming challenges and capitalizing on achievements. The focus for the upcoming year is on continuous innovation, expansion of successful IPs, and fostering connections within the gaming community. Building on the success of Sachin Saga Pro Cricket and Real Cricket, JetSynthesys plans to conduct esports events throughout the year, nurturing a thriving community.

He said, "In 2024, our focus will be on continuous innovation, expanding successful IPs, and fostering connections within the gaming community. Following the triumphant launch of Sachin Saga Pro Cricket in 2023, achieving an impressive 33.5M+ installs, a stellar 4.2 rating, and a remarkable 142M+ hours of playtime, we're poised to elevate gaming experiences to new heights."

Tandon underscores the importance of collaborations and partnerships, expressing a commitment to fostering alliances with industry stakeholders, educational institutions, and the government.

The goal is not only to sustain the current momentum but also to propel the industry to new heights. JetSynthesys aims to promote gaming as a legitimate career option, contribute to talent development, and bolster the growth of the gaming and esports ecosystem in India.

Looking ahead, Tandon emphasizes the company's commitment to agility, embracing emerging trends, and forming strategic partnerships with both endemic and non-endemic brands. By infusing traditional sports spirit into esports and prioritizing the interests of the gaming community, JetSynthesys aims not only to preserve but also to elevate the momentum in the coming year.

The overarching goal is to contribute to the evolution of gaming and esports in India, creating a sustainable and vibrant ecosystem for gamers, content creators, and enthusiasts alike.
