While many people were calling for a boycott of the game due to its connection with controversial author JK Rowling (with a history of comments that are widely seen as transphobic), xQc defended those playing the game.
He also finished the game and rated it really high, giving it a “9.3 rating.”

The release of Hogwarts Legacy has become quite the talking point on the internet, with many fans calling for the game to be boycotted due to its association with author JK Rowling. Many people have distanced themselves from the franchise since the Harry Potter author has been accused of making alleged transphobic comments over the past few years. This debate soon took to Twitch where streamers were against running advertisements for Hogwarts Legacy on the platform and some of them were berated for playing the game. Amidst all the drama, Twitch superstar Felix "xQc" Lengyel gave his honest opinion on the game.

xQc played the game on stream recently and finished it and openly disagreed with those protesting the game.

xQc’s take on Hogwarts Legacy

On 6th February, streaming couple Matt and Shelby of Girlfriend Reviews were forced to end their stream early after they were berated by their viewers. Following the verbal harassment, Shelby stepped away from the stream, seemingly on the verge of tears.

xQc is one of the big streamers to defend those playing Hogwarts Legacy on stream. During his playthrough of the game, he gave his opinion on the drama surrounding the game and stated that people might “hate him” for it. The former Overwatch pro looked at the whole trans-rights debate surrounding Hogwarts Legacy from a very practical lens.

People fund all sorts and types of evil with their daily purchases across the board in way worse ways than you can even imagine. Then you’re trying to make people feel bad for f***** purchasing a video game?, he said, adding a few expletives to slam the people harassing streamers for playing the game.

xQc rates Hogwarts Legacy

xQc “speedran” Hogwarts Legacy by swiftly completing the main quests while ignoring the side missions. After finishing it, xQc said he really enjoyed it. He added, “Okay, short version - I think the game is really good, I rate it pretty high, like…that is tough, really high, like a 9.3. I think it's definitely worth a buy, a 100%. Value for money, for sure.

Talking about the game’s cons, xQc said the “clipping and jumping” on certain places of the map was “garbanzo” and pointed out that exploring different areas of the map and movement are two elements that make an open-world game exciting. He added that the voice acting in the game was also a bit lackluster and lacked emotions while the dialogues were just fine. According to xQc, the music was also not in theme at certain points. The streamer also opined, “The menus [menu shortcuts] are sh**.” Some of his other problems with Hogwarts Legacy included the repetition of bosses.

On the other hand, xQc felt that Hogwarts Legacy has a good narrative and pointed out that it has “insane graphics.” Some of the other pros xQc jotted down include good gameplay and combat mechanics, and its immersive atmosphere, and he also lauded the customization that the game offered.
