Highlights
Ashley "Ash" Reid is Apex Legends' newest playable character who is set to debut in Season 11 next month.
She was originally a part of Titanfall 2 and her origin story was explored in the "Promise" cinematic in Season 8.
Ash will be available as a playable character starting 2nd November.

Respawn Entertainment revealed Ash as the newest character in Apex Legends and a lot of fans may be confused about who the character actually is. For anyone who did not play Titanfall 2, Ash might seem like a villainous simulacrum (android) who runs the Arenas.

She was a member of the original Apex Predators, the people who run the Apex games in the game’s lore, and was rescued by Pathfinder as shown in an older cinematic. But not much else is known about her and we are here to discuss the enigmatic character who is set to join Apex Legends as a playable character in Season 11.

Ash’s connection with Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2’s story is set decades before the events of Apex Legends and we see Ash as one of the primary antagonists. She works as a mercenary for Kuben Blisk, and players get to fight her at one point. Titanfall 2 protagonist defeats Ash and while players may have thought that was the end of the character, but she is still alive and well after being reactivated.

Ash’s debut in Apex Legends Season 5

We met Ash in Apex Legends Season 5 as part of the story quest “Broken Ghost.” Players put together Ash’s broken body and activated her in King’s Canyon which prompted a voiceline from her that says “All roads lead to Branithium.” It was a teaser for Olympus, a map that was yet to be announced at the time.

During the quest in Season 5, it was revealed by our robot friend Pathfinder that he found Ash in a dumpster and rescued her. He was heard saying “I know what it’s like to wake up and not know who you are. I wished I had a friend back then who made it less scary. I’m that friend for you… friend.”

Ash was originally Horizon’s peer

In Season 8’s Stories from the Outlands cinematic video, it was revealed that Dr. Mary Somers (Horizon) and Ash were originally peers and worked together as astrophysicists. Ash’s real name was revealed to be Dr. Ashleigh Reid and she betrayed Horizon, who traveled to space to obtain a shard of Branithium, a rare resource in the Apex Legends universe.

Ash attempted to betray her peers and steal all the Branithium for herself but she was stabbed and wounded by Amelie Paquette, who is potentially Wattson’s mother. In the Apex Legends Season 11 trailer, it looks like Ashleigh was rescued by Kuben Blisk’s men and was turned into a simulacrum.

Blisk entrusted Ash to run the Apex Games’ Arenas. This was how the character was introduced to the game two seasons ago. But it looks like Ash is being controlled by an artificial intelligence persona and is in a state of constant inner conflict. Ash is entering the Apex Games herself in Season 11 and players will get to find out more about in the upcoming season.

The gameplay reveal for Ash is scheduled on 21st October 2021 at 8 AM PST and we will get a preview of Ash’s abilities along with the new seasonal content lined up for the upcoming season.
